Bottom line - my worst experience in a full week of dinners in Avoriaz, by far. Both on food and especially on service!
First of all we had the impression they were a Michelin restaurant - if this is a Michelin restaurant, we can give up on Michelin. However it seems it's a sign from 2020, they didn't get it since, so it's of little meaning beyond misleading customers.
We reserved 4 days in advance, on arrival we got 2 separated tables, with one being limited to just an hour and 45 minutes. That table was served with urgency, while ours took a super long time to get food - 2 kids portions (pasta with nothing and pasta with cheese) - took over an hour an a half - we had to ask 2 separate waiters until they got it to us...
Entrees - some were good, some were OK. Main courses - we took one special (45 days salted ribs) and a duck based course with truffles - the ribs were nice, kids even took some. The duck was absolutely tasteless, we ate a tiny piece of it and nobody in a group of 9 wanted to touch it. The waiter in a very French way said "must be too much taste for you the truffles", even after I said I love truffles and none of us felt any taste of truffles, it was basically a shepherd's pie with duck at the bottom and barely any taste to the duck meat.
Even bathrooms are "pretty" but not maintained at all - bin is obstructed, toilet paper is the cheapest I've seen in any restaurant, here or anywhere.
If you insist on going, I recommend the duck foie gras and the Burratta of the entrees, and the lamb. Everything else was super high priced, tasteless, or both.
Honestly - no idea how this restaurant has such a score, I would never come back.
All of this for a pretty ridiculous price of a "high society" restaurant, as they like to think of themselves..
We came back to the white fountain (Fontaines blanches) to the best dinner we had...
Read moreHad really high expectations and was really looking forward to a lovely meal. At first we had a nice table for 2, but 15 minutes in a table for 6 came just near us and when they all sat down it lacked any real space, and people including staff were squeezing past me, not what you want when your eating at nice restaraunt! I had the reblochon crochets for starter, they could of been from Iceland. Belly pork main was alright, meat was tender but really lacked any real flavour or wow factor. Had far nicer food for a lot less money elsewhere. I’d never re visit nor would I recommend, better places to eat in Avoriaz in my opinion. My partners meal was equally uninspiring, truffle pizzetta starter was nice but nice is about as far as you’d go, not €30 nice but hey ho. Service was good, no complaints there,...
Read moreWe booked a place in advance for 19:00. Even though we were a group of 9 they divided us into 2 tables 4+5. One of the tables was told that we have only until 20:45.. So that table was rushed and got surved way ahead of our table, so it wasn't synced- and we had to also eat faster in order to "make it". The additude of the hostes was terrible. Toilets were simple and not so clean, you expect more from fancy places. The food was ok, meat dish incredibly expensive (150€) but nice, starters of shrimps and buratta were OK. Duck dish was horrible, and when we said something the staff igronred. Nothing extraordinary. Overall, I felt a worse attitude towards our table since we came with children and I enjoyed this restaurant the LEAST of all the others we...
