Chose Lebens' due to its location to the place our son was staying at whilst living in Berlin, we arrived, the wife, myself and youngest son at around 7 pm. Journey from the airport was about 25 mins via taxi, the surrounding area is very business orientated, the hotel occupies the ground and fourth floors whilst the other floors are a few tech companies and a Physiotherapy school. My first impressions weren't great, the hotel itself lacks kerb appeal and the reception is a little dreary and dated but the staff were great, I'd say there were around 30 rooms max judging by the amount of pigeon holes behind the reception, there's a lift which holds around 6 people or you can take the stairs. Upon entering our room it's like stepping through a time warp, very modern, wooden floor styled Lino flooring throughout, to the right were the beds, each one had a each one with a small lamp and plug socket, plenty of wardrobe space and shelves. Large screen TV, no English channels, smallish bathroom but decent shower. Plenty of cutlery and crockery, coffee maker, two electric rings and a microwave. There's a small two seater settee and a coffee table. Fresh towels every day and a quick clean every day. We had breakfast included which was basi but ok, breads, cereals, cheeses and cold meats, coffee and fruit juice and pretty good scrambled eggs and toast.| Location wise it's pretty good, Checkpoint Charlie is a 5-10 min walk where there's an underground station, from here Berlin is your oyster. I'd stay here again and, if you were on a budget I'd recommend the...
Read moreI found the staff very helpful, they gave me a map on arrival and went through where things were on it. They also discussed the breakfast on check in and informed me of the check out time.|Breakfast was good and there was lots of choice on offer, I recommend going before 9 as the breakfast hall gets very busy at 9am. Constantly having hot food replenished and fruit and yoghurt available. |The room was very spacious, especially for 1 person. Clean and comfortable. The bed had a memory foam mattress on it and I slept well. The curtains were too small for the windows so there was a lot of light coming through in the morning. I am an early riser so didn’t bother me as much. |Bathroom included fresh towels daily and body/hair wash. TV channels were all in German which is obviously understandable with it being in Berlin but would of been nice to at least have a music channel. |Good location, about a 5-10 minute walk to checkpoint Charlie, the wall museum and the black box. I have noticed people complaining it wasn’t close but it is. |I would...
Read moreCame here expecting to be near checkpoint Charlie (hence the inventive title) but a previous hotel in Stadtmitte was closer to the checkpoint than this hotel. ||||Rooms were on the 4th and 5th floors but sadly the lift only took you to the 4th floor so if you were in a wheelchair or had lots of luggage... Good luck to you. ||||When I got in the room, it didn't really give me any sort of view at all; narrow personal bathroom and the toilet seat was placed at such an awkward angle every time I put the seat up I risk injuring my penis with a toilet seat.||||A decent sleep but sadly the breakfast was anything but that. Toast, cereals, and continental items but the coffee was quite miserable compared to lower grade hotels I've been to and like a previous hotel, you're better off avoiding breakfast.||||I had 3 hotels on a recent trip to Germany, this was the worst of all 3; basic provisions but not worth the price in my...
