We are staying in the area and were looking for a local spot for lunch - we found it 🙂👍. The restaurant is rather small (seats around 30), and at first glance, it may not seem like a restaurant with the street work in front of their place. When you come in, you'll see there is nothing fancy about this place, but there are empty plates and happy, full customers hahaha. We ordered a few Schnitzel meals (with spätzle and potatoes with bacon and onion). They came out very quickly and wow were they tasty. Serious comfort food done right - we added to the empty plate count in the restaurant hahaha. The staff was very friendly and the menu is in English as well. People came in with all tables full and ordered food to go as well - a sure sign of a local gem. To add to the at home simple feel, if you need another drink, feel free to walk up to the drink fridge and grab whatever you need (opener to the right on the shelf table 👍). As well, people bring up their dishes to help out the small staff/owners. Awesome. If you are in the area, definitely...
Read moreThis is a small place, but the food is amazing! I had the schnitzel (so good) with the pilzrahmsauce (mushroom cream sauce), and I asked for käsespätzle on the side. It was perfect! The schnitzel was crispy and flavorful, and not at all greasy. The spätzle had so much flavor and was delicious! It came with a wedge of fresh tomato and a tiny fresh salad with a tangy vinaigrette. Perfect accompaniment to the heavy spätzle. They had a wonderful selection of Fritz drinks and other schorle drinks, which made my kids really happy. My son had the käsespätzle with cooked ham and the serving was HUGE! We had a lot to take home. My husband had the mixed salad with chicken, and he really enjoyed it. It was gorgeous, with lots of fresh veg. We had to pay cash, but there was a geldautomat next door, so it was fine. The service was excellent, and the people running the restaurant...
Read moreAnyone hoping for originality here will get spaetzle out of the packet. They taste like Riegele's, but perhaps they are also directly from the central warehouse of exported pasta. There are no Baden-Württembergers with traditional hats behind the counter here, but a charming enigma of global origin, oscillating somewhere between the Bosporus and Punjab. The irony of multicultural destiny: you will never find a German working in a kebab stand in Berlin, but the most German pastries are served here with a smile and surprisingly fair prices. To be honest, my cheese, onion and spaetzle plate was very good, filling and almost anti-zeitgeist in price. Just...
