Grand Palace Hotel Hannover — Hotel in Hanover

Mixed emotions. Hotel looks old and the furniture, interior, walls also seem to be old. Good location, 7-9 minutes walk to main train station, depending on your speed of walking. Couple of restaurants nearby - Osteria, Acai bowl, Block house, etc. Room position was not nice - facing railway lines with many trains passing by, at night noise was not horrible but sometimes hard to sleep. Hangers not very comfortable, but standard for hotel, mounted in the wardreobe ("anti-theft" system) No special heating, just air conditioning with "Warm" function. After a long period of time cold water starts at first, so you have to wait in the shower till it gets warm. Shower tap (unit) is tightly fixed very low, without any possibility to change the position - not for tall people unfortunately. Room cleaning is excellent, fast and invisible, never met housemaid but room was always clean and tidy. Small observation - not all hygiene products (shampoo, soap, sticks) were changed or added each day. Random foul smell in the corridor on the floor. Really weird wi-fi access: each 24 hours you have to take login and passport at the reception, only 1 device is allowed. When you arrive all the amount of money is charged immediately without any receipt, just a printout. Standard breakfast: mineral water, juices (2), althaus tea (9), coffee, musli, oats, bakery, bread, croissants, omlet, bacon,...

Would not recommend.. Old and shabby. In the rooms strong odors and in our room air conditioner would not work, hence the temperature was 26C. In the middle of October. Towels very old, thin and grey color after multiple washing. One of toilet flush buttons not functioning. Even the bottles for toiletries are so extremely tiny, maximum 1 inch, that a bottle is hardly enough for one very economic wash for one person. Could not have coffee as the coffee machine in the hotel was broken!! So no coffee at the bar downstairs. Terrible wifi! You have to reload and re-enter with new login and password every day and throughout the day also. So after several attempts our computer was completely blocked by the local wifi and we got out of connection, which is outrageous as we came for business here. Nothing could be done about it.. The most terrible experience ever! The only plus was a helpful guy at the reception, probably the only one speaking english and spanish, but he could not help either. So the hotel rates ZERO to...

We booked here because it was stated individually controlled aircondition. Had been driving car without from Spain... But sad enough it was not possible to get temperature lower than 21,8 Celsius. So we complained, staff was very helpful and checked other rooms for possible working aircon, but with no result. Staff told us that this was an issue and had been before. When we were to check out, a manager contacted us and explained in an very condescending way that aircondition was working fine.... And he even managed to mention that he was from Mexico and in Mexico 21,8 Celsius was never a problem. All this while having a smerk grin on his face. He even told me I was funny? This left us feeling ridiculed and made fun of. Rest of staff we spoke to under our stay were very proffesional and understanding. As we left an employee came to us and excused for his managers behavior. This I appreciated. Not worth a stay here if you have any problems or issues during your stay. Shame on you...
