I wanted to go to a rooftop in Athens for a birthday dinner. My wife did the research as she didn’t simply want to pay for a view but rather to have an excellent meal as well. As the search was last minute we could not get an evening reservation. This was disappointing but understandable as we had waited until the last minute. We decided to try a walk in just in case they had a table available. At the hotel entrance we were advised that we would likely need a reservation but were encouraged to head up to the tenth floor rooftop to give it a try. We were met by the hostess who confirmed we didn’t have a reservation but suggested we stay for a drink. She wouldn’t let us move on though until she triple searched and was able to find a us a table for two for dinner. We did not tell her we were there to celebrate but she was determined nonetheless to seat us. We were very grateful and thought we would get a table tucked somewhere in the back. Instead we were given an exceptional table that provided acropolis, sunset and ocean views. The staff were prompt and attentive through our pre dinner drinks, meal, dessert and coffee. We were given a sampler plate of breads with a herbed butter and sea salt. All fresh and delicious. We shared a scrumptious Greek salad, the seafood ravioli and the lamb. All three were excellent. The lamb was DIVINE. Best I have eaten, ever, not just in Greece. The triple chocolate dessert did not disappoint either. It had great flavour and was the perfect combination of crunch and creaminess. I am a self proclaimed foodie and have high expectations especially from a restaurant that is at a higher price point then many others in the area. If you are out for a treat and willing to break the budget for a special meal and location we would highly recommend this spot. We did take a photo of the view but none of our meals as pulling out a camera was the last thing on our minds when these beautifully plated...

The food was amazing and the service was horrible. It was the last day of our honeymoon, we had been travelling all day via bus, metro, ferry and had a beautiful dinner date planned and had made a reservation over a month in advance. We arrived to Athens late and did not have time to change, my wife and I were both in shorts and a t shirt and greeted by the doorman of the hotel who immediately judged us by what I can only assume our appearance, he told us the restaurant was closed despite it being 9:45 and us having a reservation for 10:00 pm. He called for a manager as he did not even want to let us in the building. After confirming we had infact made a reservation they let us up to the rooftop garden. We had a beautiful view and the food was amazing, however our server came to our table twice, once to let us order and again to drop off our food. We had made him aware we planned on having a dessert and he said he would bring a menu back after we finished eating. Not only did he avoid eye contact with our table, he did not come to ask how our meal was, if we wanted to have dessert or if we were ready to pay. We sat for 30 minutes after eating, decided against dessert as we felt invisible to all the staff. After staring down the manager and advising him we were ready to pay he brought our bill. Our server still refused to make eye contact or acknowledge us. It was a horrible way to end what could have been the fireworks on the last day of our honeymoon, what we thought would be an unforgettable night to end things in Athens before departing home, became something we would much rather forget ever happened. Our hats go off to the kitchen staff, and that is it. We would...

Do NOT go if you’re not a guest at their hotel. HORRIBLE experience of discrimination. We had a 9 pm reservation which were made over two weeks before arriving in Athens. We wanted to see another view of the Acropolis for our last night in Athens on 6/15/24. From the moment we were greeted and asked by the hostess if we were a guest of their hotel….We told her we were staying at another hotel. She seated us in the back section of the restaurant by the glass doors with one other group of guests (similar nationality as us) finishing their meals while there were two to three other tables available in the open area in front of the glass doors. We had a late lunch and the best ice cream at Mona Lisa after our evening tour so we were not too hungry when we arrived. It took the waiter a long time to come to our table to get our order and the food seemed to take forever to be served as if we were an afterthought, forgotten and hidden by the glass doors. We had orzo with beef and lamb dishes then chocolate mousse for dessert. The food was delirious. We had to seek out another waitress while she was cleaning up around us to get our check. She nodded but then ignored our request. While we waited we observed two other tables being seated after 10 pm in the front section with offering of hand towels. We didn’t get our check a half hour later. Inexcusable. This was the worst experience we had in Greece with blatant discrimination. We could have chosen many other rooftop restaurants and wouldn’t have been treated this way. We highly recommend GB Roof Garden at Hotel Bretagne down the street where they would not treat their guests like at Metropolis...

TL;DR: an uneven meal experience that the staff went above and beyond to correct and turn into a great experience, and I would return. Overall the food was very good and the setting is incredible. Recommend. Firstly: the views are absolutely stunning as, atop the Electra Metropolis Hotel, you are high and reasonably close to the Acropolis with a nice three quarters view of the Parthenon and Erechtheion. They have inside and outside seating; it was 82F at 8pm so inside with AC was delightful. The meal experience: booked a sunset time table hoping for a nice golden hour into dark experience. With my 2 kids. Our server Henri was friendly and jovial, and offered kids/children menu items. The food courses came out poorly timed (entrees came while apps still on table) and a wrong entree was brought out. Our server and the manager did sort it all out and took some pointed feedback on one food item which was new and needed some reworking IMO. All staff were friendly and receptive and happy to make the experience as good as it could be given the missteps before. The desserts that followed were outstanding. I really appreciated that the staff and manager took the time and care to correct errors and put forth an excellent product in food and service.

Hands down, the best dining experience I've had so far. I have to say the staff, especially Henry, gave us a great meal! We were seated by the back with the best view of the Parthenon. It was quiet when we ate, around 5pm. They opened up the glass barrier by our table, which gave us the perfect view of the landmark and allowed a lovely breeze into the restaurant. We ordered the scallops, which were served with puree, which was different from what I was used to pairing it with, but it tasted amazing. Different types of bread were offered in a small basket, and we had white bread and bread seasoned with tumeric. It came with Himalayan sea salt and specially made butter. The steak was served with roasted carrots and a moussaka croquet, cooked to our liking. The dessert was rich and was neatly presented to show the trilogy of chocolate. It may be heavy for some after the main course but since our tours were done for the day, we took our time and had a relaxing evening. Every staff member was friendly, helpful, and paid close attention to detail. I highly recommend eating here as a treat, the starters are around €20 but filling and the mains start around €35 so it may seem pricey but for a 5-star hotel with 5-star views, it is worth it!

Breathtaking view, disappointing service. We were excited to dine at Metropolis Roof Garden and arrived without a reservation, hoping for availability. The hostess was absolutely lovely and managed to seat us at a beautiful table with a perfect, unobstructed view of the Acropolis. The setting was incredibly romantic and upscale, and the food and drinks were both delicious. Unfortunately, the service completely missed the mark. Our server took our full order at the beginning and then never returned to check on us—not once. Both of our drinks were empty well before our entrees arrived, and we were never asked if we wanted another round. Water was being poured by staff, but they kept confusing our still and sparkling, which affected the taste. To make matters worse, staff attending nearby tables were frequently dropping things and making a lot of noise, which disrupted the otherwise elegant atmosphere. For a restaurant that presents itself as fine dining, the service was shockingly inattentive. We felt ignored, and it left us wondering if it was due to being American tourists or a gay couple—either way, it’s unacceptable. We won’t be returning and cannot recommend this place, especially at this price point.
