When coming to review a hostel like Lozenni (Lausanne here, for some reason) in Athens, it is really one of those, thankfully exceptionally rare, occasions where the 1-5 star rating system offered by TripAdvisor really is not enough. This truly is a place that deserves 0 stars. For the same level of comfort and security, you could sleep outside the hotel on the street - and save yourself €20 per night in the process. ||||It was the only hostel in Athens, so I had to book it despite knowing full well beforehand that the neighbourhood it is situated in has a reputation for being the worst in the city. I made it there without problem though, as it is fairly easy to find. Checking in is confusing, as they have the world's most moronic security system, which is as follows:||||Every room essentially has but one key. This is given to the first person to enter the room, and handed in at the front desk when the last person in the room goes out. Guests must then pass the key between each other as they go out. On top of this, this also means that guests cannot lock the room from the inside, as then no one else would be able to enter as the desk does not have another key. Yes, this includes overnight. Whoever thought that this was a good way to run a hotel should be run out of the business so thoroughly that they would never work again.||||The beds are among the most uncomfortable I have ever attempted to sit on, never mind sleep on. That is, what there is there of the beds - because most of them have bits missing, especially underneath and at the head. The pillows fall off the end, and if you are not careful you will fall through the gaps onto the floor or the person underneath. The bathroom is filthy, and basically a tiny walled off section of the room - with no ceiling itself so anyone on a bunk bed close enough can look over into it.||||They claim to have a bar and restaurant. When I attempted to visit, the room was in a chaotic state with broken chairs and tables strewn all over the floor. The bar had clearly not had any drinks behind it in several years (yet the man on the front desk did not mention this to me), and there was a middle aged German lady lying half passed-out in the corner talking to herself. ||||And yet, with all of the above, this place even gets worse! See, when I was on my way back to the hotel after an evening out, I was mugged; had my phone stolen, and was left injured and bleeding heavily on the street. When I eventually managed to get back to the hotel, I explained what had happened to the person on the front desk and told them I needed to use the phone to call help.||||"We don't have a phone," was the response. I was dumbstruck. I again explained the situation, and he again told me that they did not have a phone. The phone was sitting on the desk right in front of me, and when I pointed this out the callous and nasty excuse for a human being said he was not letting me use it! Giving up, I went back to the dorm room to ask people in the room if I could use one of their phones - and the receptionist even dared to follow me back to accuse me of making trouble! I made sure to inform him in the most vulgar manner possible, the next morning as I left the place having not slept at all, what he should go and do to himself.||||So yes, that is the kind of experience waiting for you at Hotel Lozenni/Lausanne in Athens. If you have any sense at all, you will not be considering sleeping here after reading of my experience. Even a night on the street in the cesspool of a district outside would be a better experience, that much...

At the end of the day my girlfriend went to the reception and asked for extra towels and soap so we could take a shower, they were nice and gave us an extra soap but no extra towels though.
When we went into the shower area you had two showers, a bigger and a smaller one, my girlfriend took the bigger shower and I took the smaller shower. While we were showering we heard someone enter the toilet to the left of the showers. When we went back to the room after showering my girlfriend told me that she felt like someone was watching her.
I dressed myself and went back to the showers to see if something was fishy, I noticed some glass sunblinds(?) or ventilation or something in the big shower area. Then I went to the toilet left of the showers, this toilet has a big double window in it, when you open the window you see a little room with a generator of some sort and a ladder. As I looked around I noticed the sunblinds/ventilation is connected to this room and you could look through it into the shower.
So my conclusion was that my girlfriend was right about feeling watched because someone did enter that toilet while we were showering (as proof there was a sigaret in the toilet bowl), probably someone who works there or knows how the place is knew we were taking a shower (because we asked for extra stuff so we could shower at the reception).
When I found this out I found it very violating of our privacy and I want to warn everyone (especially females) be carefull when you stay here because you never know.
The staff was friendly but it just isn't right that this is...
