We have attended many hotel across Europe and Asia. None have been quite like this hotel, in a positive and negative way. I can say that the hotel overall was very clean, there was no dust under the bed, and the room was spotless! Room service was very helpful, you could always ask for any towels, soap etc. Breakfast tasted wonderful, the pastries were heavenly, and I can say a favourite of mine was the sausages! However, for the dinner I will admit I expected better service. Every night we stayed at the hotlel, we needed to call reception when dinner would be; it ranged from 7pm to 8:30pm lasting to 9/10pm. The portions were big, and it tasted amazing, but the people who would be working at the restaruant there (where you will have to order) seemed to be quite young, and didn't seem as experienced. On countless occasions, my family and I found that dishes and drinks from our order were forgotten, correct utensils weren't given, and it felt like they didn't want to serve us at all. One night, we went up and apparently only 3 groups with a total of 10 people were having dinner, meaning that the kitchen was closed and they could only offer us one certain dish for our main meal. This turned out to involve beef, which our family can't eat. We discussed this with the people working there, yet found they adamantly kept saying this was the only dish. So what were we supposed to eat then? Finally, we managed to get a pasta with chicken, but I can say that the management of dinner could use some improving, as well as the dinner times. There seemed to be frequent language barriers, especially with the group next to us, who couldn't communicate across anything. In the end, they didn't have dinner that night, and went out to eat, yet I still feel that the people working here could give hand gestures and such to communicate. Overall, this hotel is lovely for a short stay, since we made the mistake of staying here for a whole week! The breakfast is scrumptious, it really is only the dinner that I feel requires a bit of management. Otherwise, staff helped us quite well, although I do find that people spoke to us in a cold manner, which we don't appreciate. There are many restaurants near the hotel, and you can really get anywhere with a taxi....
Read moreStayed for 2 days...Nice rooms but not enough space in closets. Waiting for the lift can take minutes . Way too many guests for just 2 tiny lifts. There was a constant smell of cigarettes in the room. So obviously there were people smoking in the rooms and the A/C was spreading the smell everywhere. On the second day from 8 am till 16 00 PM there was no WARM WATER!! So i left in the morning thinking they were gonna fix it and returned at 12 and tried to have a shower, 40C + outside and the water cold as **. I called the reception at 12 to report it and the lady was surprised! No one has called to report such problem but they will check it and call me. After one hour she did call to confirm it and that they try to fix it. Took 4 hours!. Last day check out...28th of August at about 20 : 25 .Silly me I ask the lady to call a taxi. I did not know they charge 3 euros immediately on the rate. The lady (short dark hair) at the reception never told me. I only had 10 euros cash the rest on my credit card. I take the taxi to Syntagma square - ride does not cost more than 7€- the taxi driver charges me 13 € ! I said I dont have it . We went to 2 banks as the first ATM wasnt working to withdraw cash...Anws the whole ordeal took half an hour and cost me more than 16 euros,.a ride from Omonia to Syntagma!!!.I called her to complain and she told.me with an attitude that I should have known that and that it's not her business to inform all the 200+ guests about that!!!! I said i dont think all the guests request that you call them a taxi as every 5 seconds on every street in the center of Athens a taxi passes by...so you wouldn't get so tired to inform a few guests about the extra charge and save them the trouble and time if they dont have enough cash on them as NO TAXIS accept cards. If you are a local, as you said to me, and you know that good for you. Your job also require you to know that first hand, mine not... That also does not apply to a tourist either...But at the end I get it, those 3 euros goes straight back to the hotel...so why ...
Read morePrevious negative reviews are likely from when the hotel was not yet completed and was still under construction. All previous negatives appear to have been resolved. This is a beautiful, brand new, fully-functioning hotel, and GREAT value for money! The hotel is brand new. Elegant stunning interior designing, white and bright with plants. Free coffee machine in restaurant for use at all times with brilliant cappuccino. Received complimentary water bottles while checking in at the desk. There were complimentary drinks in the room. They have a varied breakfast buffet each morning. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Best of all, the location is very close to the tourist sites. It is a 15min walk into Monastiraki Square which is the main area with the historic buildings, shops, restaurants, and Plaka district. It is also very walkable to Acropolis Hill! The hotel is next door to a police station with lots of police officers stood outside at all times, so it feels very safe. The room and bathroom are brand new, spotless clean, a good size. Unfortunately on one morning we woke up due to loud drilling at 9am, but this was brief then stopped. The bathroom basin is very small. The bed was not a double bed, it was two single beds next to each other and two single beddings/duvets. However, I'm sure this could probably be changed to a double if requested. But, generally, the beds were unfortunately not the comfiest. The streets around the hotel are very run-down, with so much graffiti, and rough people on street corners. The area definitely feels very unsafe to walk in after dark. However, the hotel itself is next door to a police station with lots of police officers stood on the roadside and outside the hotel which makes the hotel itself...
