Be aware - We had bed bugs in our bed!!!! I was shocked to discover bed bugs in our bed in room 103! The hotel looks brand new, and the sheets seemed fresh, but on our second night, I woke up covered in bites on my hands and back. With no mosquitoes around, I started looking for the cause—and found a bed bug crawling in my bed. I recorded a video and even took the bug to the reception. The worst part? The manager’s response was completely unacceptable. She was rude, didn’t even apologize, and dismissed it, saying, “It’s just one” and that no one else had complained. We had to move all our belongings—with a baby—in the middle of the night, and no staff offered to help. The entire experience was awful, and not once did anyone apologize. I’ve been traveling in Greece for years and have never had such a terrible experience. Stay away from this place if you care about cleanliness and basic hospitality!

We loved the room, its facilities, the coffee machine (thank you!), the shower, the location (couldn't be better- astonished when finding our way back from the central market to find we were just around the corner! And so close to our favourite bakery- creme royale), the brilliant breakfasts (Greek yoghurt and honey: amazing; and the fruit...), the welcoming and immensely helpful staff. The only possible improvement would be on the boxed breakfast the one day we needed it. Could have been a bit better- but we probably should have given more notice. (I've also added a pic of the front as I don't think we would have spotted it without our taxi driver's help)

I had a great time in Athens thanks to the amazing Philia staff who made me feel at home! They were so attentive and helpful and gave me a lot of tips and recommendations on where to visit for coffee, foods, souvenirs and sightseeing. The room was very spacious with a high ceiling which I adore. The air conditioning (essential if you visit Athens during summer as I did) worked perfectly and breakfast was very fulfilling. The hotel is super close to the Agora and within walking distance of the Acropolis. It’s also at the heart of nightlife and food scene. I would love to come back again!

Great location and great staff. When I entered the room, I killed 3 mosquitoes within 1 hour. Not sure where they came from. I went to the front desk to let them know and apparently it's a problem they deal with every summer. Thankfully, the staff told me to plug in the insect repellent into the socket to drive mosquitoes away. It was located in the closet area. It is a bio-friendly solution to the problem. It emits a certain smell that mosquitoes hate. If I had not gone to front desk, I might not have known this and got bitten all night long. You just have to make sure the plug in has a fresh repellent mat, which lasts about 20 hours. If it runs out, it needs to be replaced. This was the only concern I had about my stay. I don't like mosquitoes, so this would have ruined my stay. I think they come in through a door in the hallway that is always open. Then, they get in the room because I never opened my balcony window or door. They must have already been in the room.

Other than that, the breakfast was nice, made to order. The hotel was clean. And the area is close enough to the main things going on but still privately tucked away so you can have peace and quiet. Good internet access. Close to...

We paid €360 for a suite, since it was the last night of our honeymoon. The room was small, the bathroom smelled of damp, the shower was not working properly and we couldn't get any sleep because of the very loud noise from the street until the early hours of the morning. The hotel is surrounded by night clubs and the noise is just unbearable. We had asked for a quiet room and this was not taken into account. Not only that: we had booked a taxi from the port to the hotel that never came (and when we called the hotel they said they had not been able to organise the transfer after all, despite us calling more than 24h in advance). When we tried to communicate our upset to management, nothing was done about it. We waited 40min in 30 degree (Celsius) heat, which was less than ideal with a 6 month bump. The receptionist put the transfer problem down to being a 'miscommunication', and he left without dealing with the noise issue that we had brought up. Since nothing was being done by the staff present, we emailed the address that we had been communicating with prior to arrival and there was no response. Just not good enough. Don't be deceived by the photos, the place is very...

We spent three nights and found the location excellent, however we were disappointed with the room. The quality of the fittings in the room is very good, however our room was situated at the rear of the hotel with access through the so called garden which is in fact a walkway and should not be called a garden. Our room was on the ground floor and had windows overlooking the “garden”.The windows had blinds for privacy but this made the bedroom very dark and depressing. The so called garden was certainly not a place to have breakfast as the view was of the air conditioning units serving the rooms.I would certainly not recommend this ground floor room. The reception and main inside breakfast area was delightful with character and a pleasant ambiance.|Breakfasts were adequate but nothing special with a very strange ordering system where you had to choose your breakfast the night before using a tick box piece of paper. We did not like this and had never experienced anything like this before. No replacement water in the room after the first night and a charge for another coffee capsule-very cheese pairing.Overall not the...
