LOVELY EXPERIENCE, LOCATION||A hidden gem! This magnificent heritage 500+ year old property is conveniently located on the edge of the Chania port area (situated directly opposite the lighthouse and next to the Maritime Museum). It is a very professionally run establishment with impeccable views of the Chania port area (where room views permit). ||Key points:|- Location. See above comments. Sufficiently away from the hustle and bustle of Chania central town but only a 1-2 minute easy stroll to the centre and to Talos Square (taxi stand situated behind the property). |- Professional crew / front desk and kitchen. Big thanks to Eva, Aliki, Nicholas and crew. Relaxed vibe yet things still get done efficiently and with a smile. |- Great BIG beds for a comfortable sleep. Finally, an establishment in Greece offering king size beds! |- Great food and drinks at the cafe on ground floor (with views of the Chania Port area) with an outside sitting area underneath old vine leaves - a delight! Breakfast is good with tasty choices (menu is a la carte). |- Rooms vary in size given age of building so ask what room type/size is being offered. |- Modern bathrooms and A/C worked well. |- Bath robes supplied (great stuff). |- Water (large bottle) was added daily to room fridge (refreshing to see, high customer care factor). |- 10-15 minute walk to local beach (which is of a reasonable standard, sunbeds available) and a number of very nice seaside tavernas (worth the walk) away from the bustle of Chania town/port area. |- No onsite Lift (due to building heritage listing). Staff do assist with luggage to...

Top notch service! They called us a day before to see what time we would get there. Even though our official check in time is at 3, they let us in early at noon. Before the room is ready, they let us leave our luggage there free of charge so we can walk around, exploring the town. They also gave us a list of suggestions for restaurants and why they think it is good. In the morning, we also get to have free breakfast at their beautiful cafe looking out to the waterfront.
Beautiful accommodations! The hotel is part of the fortress that is 540 years old. It adds so much to the hotel charm with the carpet decoration, the brick walls and the wooden floor. The hotel is still very clean, equipped with AC, and has an extremely big and modernized bathroom with natural rainfall shower head. We pick the ocean view room and our room look out to the waterfront from the fortress. I feel like a princess waking up to such a view.
Convenient location! The hotel is right on the waterfront so it is close to the market and all the tourists place. The street is well lit so it is safe to wander at night. Most restaurants near there would play music so you would feel relaxed while walking back from your day exploring the...
Read moreThis was the perfect location to start our Crete vacation. The room we stayed in was quite small, but we knew this when we booked. It had a lovely view of the lighthouse in the harbour which was stunning.
Our welcome was one of the best I have ever received - we were personally showed to our room and felt very taken care of. The hotel has a beautiful inner courtyard that we spent some quiet time at. We also appreciated the safe in the room and the water in our mini fridge.
Although the hotel is right on the harbour, it was at the end of it and still very quiet. Being in Old Town, we needed to park at the free parking about a 5 minute walk away. Parking is a challenge because it's so busy. We lucked out getting a spot when we first arrived, but then tried to avoid anymore driving to not lose our spot. One day we needed to drive and ended up needing to park about a 20 minute walk away. But we did love how close we were to Old Town, with restaurants and shops being very close by.
Not only is the history of the hotel impressive, but so was the included breakfast. We spent 9 days on Crete and this was the BEST breakfast we had the entire time.
Would love to return if we ever get the chance to return to...
