I have a warning for those on gluten free diets, with Celiac disease, or with wheat/gluten intolerance considering a visit to this restaurant. In short, the first time I went there, the pizza they negligently served was regular wheat pizza, NOT gluten free. I don't feel confident that the pasta they served was gluten free, either. I visited again once more, doubting myself because I was told the food had been gluten free. On the second visit, they actually served their gluten free pizza, and the crust was very very different. It was so disgusting in fact, that I could not eat it, and they would not offer a refund for it. It was thick and hard, worse than cardboard, and was sent straight to the garbage. A lot of the touristy restaurants in this area offer gluten free options, but just don't really care about quality, it's all for the gimmick. This place, I would never trust again, and with this review I hope to spare someone else from going through what I dealt with here.
TL;DR: Gluten free people, I don't recommend eating here. They served regular wheat pizza and said it was gluten free. It's actually dangerous to people with medical conditions (luckily I just had a sensitivity). Their genuine gluten free options are awful. However, if you can eat gluten and have no dietary restrictions,...
Read moreWe came here late one night after being at the beach all day and fancied some nice wholesome Italian food.. We soon came to realise this place would not fulfill our needs. Ordered the Garlic Bread (Bruscetta) and that was very bland tasting, hardly any garlic, no herbs and barely any cheese which had any flavour at all. Mains we ordered a ham and mushroom pizza with chicken penne pasta... Pizza looked nice but unfortunately lacked any kind flavour again and meat just tasted like what you would get at a supermarket out of a packet... Pasta wasn't at all fresh, tasted very bland, no herbs or seasoning and was certainly from a box and chicken was very dry and chewy with barely any in there.. This was a very expensive meal for what it was and don't get me wrong the view was very nice but the food was the worst we had in our week in Chania and also gave us upset stomachs the day after. Another thing to add is that the server said about how to tip and we were very taken back the fact they were asking for a tip after how much the meal cost anyway and the fact the food and service was...
Read moreJust finished dinner there. I’ve been in Chania for more than 6 weeks and have eaten at more than 40 restaurants as food and wine are the major reason I travel.
The male waiter at this place is entitled person who should be fired.
I asked to taste the Italian wine by the glass, he refused and hard sold me the Chilean wine although I wanted Italian. I drank the Italian and it was good….it should be as it’s an Italian restaurant.
Meal was fine. At the end of these meal I paid by card. He asked me if I wanted to tip. Generally we don’t tip here but I added 5%. He said are you American, I said no, Canadian….his response was, oh that’s why you only tip 5%.
Having eaten here in restaurants at least 100x I can say this guy is the worst waiter and example of someone in Chania. In general no one asks for a tip and certainly doesn’t give you a hard time.
Don’t go here if they employ people like this.
My other 99 experiences were excellent. Chania places are great.
That guy shouldn’t be in the...
