Terrible place to go for food. Firstly We were forced to be seated beside the path walk where we were begged constantly for money and to packets of tissues. I was asked how I wanted my burger done. I was confused until she asked again do I want it rare, medium rare or well done? I was baffled as minced beef pressed as a burger or meatball should ALWAYS be fully cooked as you cannot be certain which parts of mince contains bacteria. My friend ordered it rare to see if they actually do practice this dangerous and health threatening method of cooking their burgers and it indeed came with the burger uncooked in the middle. The burgers also had barely any salad and no tomatoes when it was suppose to. Next I had asked for a drink that never came and I was charged for it at the end. A margarita pizza was ordered and came with tomatoes as a topping when it was specifically asked to be removed. And four starters took 60 minutes to come which was very painful waiting for. After the starters arrived, the main took another 40 minutes. The toilet was also extremely dirty with urine all over the floor, toilet seat and the toilet brush was out on the ground as soon as you walk in. Also there are no privacy in the toilets as there are big gaps in between the toilet wall and door which makes it very evident and visible when someone is sitting down or standing up performing...
Read moreWe were excited to find a restaurant with multiple vegan options (a vegan menu!).
We were served our starters (Bruschetta and pies), they were served on our plate like leftover garbage. Instead of a Bruschetta with avocado and tomatoes it was some avocado and lime goop with a sad arrangement of tomatoes. Two dry spinach pies served with nothing at all, no sauce.
Already majorly disappointed but waited to be served the mains. We got a pizza and the Greek salad which we requested to not have any olives and of course they served it with olives. Once I told the wait staff he seemed annoyed and took it away, brought it back with the olives hand picked out of it (idk what else I was expecting really 😂). Bright side is the pizza base was yummy!
Once we finished up the wait staff offered our toddler ice cream. And just to double check because surely us only requesting the vegan menus/only ordering vegan this wait staff would surely offer our toddler something vegan right?! Wrong! He offered regular ice cream and when I asked he said it’s not vegan and judgementally asked (oh him too??) aka (he is also vegan?!) like yes both of his parents are so assume the toddler is.
Then after he said he would come back with a different gift (it was a little car) Sweet! Our toddler loved it! But he HAD to say “Now are you happy?” as if our toddler getting a gift has magically erased our memory...
Read moreA Gem in the Heart of Old Town Chania
I had the pleasure of dining at Zepos Restaurant this past June, and what an experience it was. Nestled right in the heart of the bustling Old Town, Zepos somehow manages to stand apart from the typical tourist-driven spots, offering an authentic, elevated dining experience that’s truly memorable.
The menu is a culinary delight with plenty of genuine Cretan and Greek options for everyone. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, rich with flavour and tradition. You can tell this place cares about its food and it certainly shows.
Despite being in a high-traffic area, the atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the service was outstanding. Attentive, friendly, and welcoming without ever feeling rushed. It’s rare to find such a balance in such a crazy busy part of town.
I’ve also stayed at their sister property, Domus Renier Hotel, which is just above the restaurant, and the same standard of hospitality flows seamlessly between the two. It speaks volumes about their commitment to quality and guest experience.
This was more than just a dinner , it was a highlight of my time in Chania. I’d return in...
