Venetian House Chania Old Town — Local services in Municipality of Chania

Beware We booked this house in April 2024 for June 2024 through Expedia. The House accepted the booking, but then cancelled later the same day. Expedia were very apologetic and said that sometimes these things can happen, which we accepted. We decided to book the house this year, 2025. We booked it in January. The hotel accepted the booking, and we were satisfied that all had gone smoothly this time. Two weeks later Efi got in touch with me and said the house wasn’t available and she wanted me to cancel. She presumably wanted me to cancel so she would appear blameless. I refused and had to contact Expedia (they were very good). Expedia contacted Efi and then came back to us to confirm that she would not honour the booking. Efi had the temerity to say that I would not be harmed financially, but this is completely untrue. The house was booked as part of a package, including flights through Expedia and I booked travel extras separately. The cost of flights and travel extras would not be refunded on cancellation of the holiday and I would lose a considerable amount of money. Be very cautious if you are considering this house, Efi will cancel at any time, if she can find a higher bidder, and she will try to make you responsible...

Amazing location right in the Old Town, but at the end of a small dead end street with it's own Minoan ruins! This makes it very private, and quiet, considering everything that surrounds it.

The air conditioning and fans work perfectly to take the edge off the August heat, supermarkets are all just a few mins walk away, as well as an enormous number of bars, restaurants, sandwich places, kiosks, and of course the port. The terrace is the absolute Highlight, especially for sunrises, and relaxing in the evenings to the chirping of the cicadas. If you want to simply sun bathe and relax during the day, with just the sound of the ocean, it is phenomenal. The Kitchen has everything you would need (except a microwave) so self catering is easy (you also burn off the calories carrying your food up to the roof terrace 😀)
