At the end of this I have a caution for guests. But let me start with the positives. It's a lovely hotel, modern design, in great condition and clean. The breakfast is so Bougie amazing. Really top chef variety of eggs, breads, pastries, etc. The shared areas are also beautiful- roof top lounge with sun chairs and tables. The Caution - as a historic property in sure they limited in remodeling (i imagine same with the other hotels in old town). Consequently there are many areas in the room and the hall with a single step. My room had a step up from the bedroom to the entry / toliet. And then one you walked into the hall another step down. The lights in the hall are on a timer, and it had not been adjusted for earlier sunset so the hall outside room 4 and by the stairs to the rooftop is dark earlier (and also in the day time) than the hall to the outer stairs. I walked out of my room and didn't see the step. I fell and hit the side of my face, my arm, etc on the wall and then my knees on the marble. I sat there for a few minutes to recover. I have bruises on my jaw, arm, knees - but nothing worse. To the owners- the solution is not turning the hall light on earlier. There should be a light over door 4 and at the staircase that's on all the time. There are battery lights that can be recharged if it's difficult to wire an old building. I recommend staying in this hotel. It's lovely. But be careful...
Read moreMy wife & I were fortunate to spend 5 nights at Hotel Off with excellent service from all staff from check-in to check out.
The breakfast as stated countless times by previous guests, cannot be understated. A brilliant selection of breads, meats, fruit, local yoghurt & honey. Fresh Greek coffee which is a must , and of course the fresh Loukamades.
The room was spacious and overlooked some quaint balconies and the alleyway beneath. The rooftop terrace is also a wonderful spot to enjoy with a bottle of the local wine and watch the sunset over the tiled rooftops.
Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby to enjoy all Chania has to offer, but with excellent double glazed windows, the sound is non existent, so a pleasant nights sleep is a given.
Special mention to Joanna one of the lovey staff members, she always had time to chat and pass on her knowledge as a local. On departure we had a very early transfer and Joanna organized a small but convenient breakfast for us the night before to ensure we started the day well.
Thank you to the entire team at Hotel Off, a destination i endeavor to stay...
Read moreA quaint hotel in Chania's old town. We were particularly impressed with the three different outdoor areas (ground floor patio and then two upstairs terraces) for guests only. During our stay we frequented these spots a lot and had them totally to ourselves. We felt like we had our own little slice of heaven.
Excellent service from friendly staff (and the lovely cat Marianne!) who ensured we made the most of our stay and gave plenty of recommendations for places to go and see.
The three rooms we booked were well-kitted out with fridges full of complementary drinks, a coffee station and TV. Ours had an adorable balcony too.
Worth noting that some members of our party felt the pillows in the rooms could have been better - with one quite thick and hard pillow and a second slim pillow. Other than this however we had no complaints. I myself, an insomniac, slept soundly the three nights we stayed.
Can highly recommend to couples and families or even solo travellers looking for a quaint and quiet...
