Ask questions before booking! We were traveling as two couples. We booked a room with two beds for four adults. It was supposed to be one large bed and two smaller beds. The pictures were deceiving. Because of ferry delays, we arrived tired and late—after a 1.5-hour ferry ride and a 2-hour car drive, all we wanted was rest. We got into the room after hours and soon discovered it was not what we had booked. Instead of two smaller beds and a large one, the room had one large bed, one small bed, and a sofa. We were given towels for only two people, bedding for three, and glasses for two. One married couple ended up sleeping separately. The room itself is huge but poorly designed. The large bed and small bed are on a higher level, while the sofa and unnecessary furniture—including a massive bathtub and huge broken table hanging from the ceiling —are in the lower level of the room. We decided to call it a night and speak with reception in the morning. The next day, we checked the room description and our receipt again. Nowhere did it mention a sofa or that one adult would be separated from the others. Talking with reception was not easy. The receptionist sounded like a broken record, repeatedly asking if the sofa reclined. I kept saying, “A sofa is not a bed.” She kept insisting it was the website’s fault. I reminded her that the website wasn’t here to make things right. She eventually called upper management, and even then, she repeatedly referred to the sofa as a “kanape,” which proved our point. We are too old to travel under such conditions. There is no sofa shown in the website photos, nor in the pictures displayed on their building. After a lot of back-and-forth, the story went from “we don’t have any more rooms” to “you can pay $90/night and get an extra room for two nights.” Since we were staying for four nights and I really wanted to enjoy my time, I accepted the offer. But my friend was furious—she found it unfair. I was very disappointed as well. This was not fair, and certainly not good customer service. The room had an entrance for roof top. It was on the last floor, not easy to walk woth a heavy luggage using a spiral narrow stairs and no elevator. The room had potential, but it was nothing like on the photos. Other rooms had a real beds, decent size. We had mattresses on the cheap box and... sofa. If insteady of "canape" they should place another large bed in lower portion of the room. Then we could make it work. Otherwise this is room only for 2 people. Shower poorly designed, cabin too small, water is coming out to the floor. Room had way too many trinkets. I am sure they are not throughly dusted. It majes the roomlook outdated. Be ready to keep asking for stuff several times, doesn't matter if it's more coffee or toilet paper. Location is great.

For its price it is ok. Excellent spot, one minute from the sea at the old Port, in a beautiful street. The room had a lot of useless stuff, the lamps had very week light, a little of dust, the hot tub wasn't attractive, it was old, as we entered the room it smelled like it was closed for a long time. On the other hand, clean sheets, clean towels, good bed. Recommended for 1 night, max 2.

We had a wonderful couple of days at Ifigenia. Beautiful and atmospheric, a stone’s throw from harbour and the two ladies working there were lovely and welcoming. The breakfasts were excellent. Would stay here again on my next Crete trip.

We are Greeks who leave in UK. After many years of travelling to exotic islands outside Europe we decided that it is time to create travel content from a Greek island. We were so close to book this place as it's unique apartments would be the best place to start for our project. We were interested for the deluxe suite or standard room in booking website. Thankfully I rang in order to clarify few of my questions. I spoke to a man who was very rude. Then he thought that the call was ended and I heard him saying to someone else that he managed to push away all Greeks and cypriots and he appeared to be proud for it. This is so disappointing. Definitely not an example of greek hospitality. I am not sure how he managed to get good reviews in booking by Greek people since he doesn't want them. Definitely this is not what we want to include in our travel content for our foreign friends...

Absolutely terrible hotel. We stayed in early July for 3 nights as a family with two little kids when it was 35+ and the air conditioning did not work. In addition one of the beds was a pull out couch which was completely unusable since the sag was ridiculous. I ended up laying the mattress on the floor. The owner especially was rude and completely unapologetic to any of the issues. The place is completely rundown and is easily the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Do yourself a favour and book somewhere else! This place will ruin your...
