After checking a few reviews we booked Porto Veneziano due to the good location in Chania . It was as the first stop in Crete. To our surprise … staying here made an enormous difference in all our trip in Crete.

Firstly , the arrival was super easy , they have private parking just behind the hotel and are situated in a perfect spot of the Port . We arrived quite early .. 10 am . Differently then when we arrived at any other hotel (that will ask you to wait for checkin time ) , Maria ( one of the lovely receptionists) gave us a very early check in, because the room was ready , offered us a bottle of wine as it was our wedding anniversary.

The room was SUPER cute ! It had a gorgeous side view to the port . It is a small room, but so charming and well decorated, with the balcony and a lovely view !

The hotel is on front of the Venetian port. Fantastic location not inside the bustle , but in the quiet zone , sea front and 3 mins close to the busy side - walking .

Your PERFECT breakfast will be served in the tables right on the port. Sooooo gorgeous! Watching the boats and port . You can choose to whatever you like ! It’s just a must !!!! Delicious !

The girls at reception gave us really good tips and directions and helped us with reservations . One of the best restaurants in Chania is “Chrisotomos “ and is just around the corner . They will find restaurants that you like . From the tables in front of the hotel you can also see the sunset sipping your favorite drink , with super service !

As we were traveling spontaneously, they helped us to plan our route in Crete for the next 5 days !!! We left after 2 days ( a little sad as we LOVED the hotel. )

But the best is yet to come . I had a problem and left a kindle in another location in Crete. They called me , advised me and coordinated all the delivery by express mail. And it was not even at their hotel… I ask you who provirdes such thoughtful assistance and go out of their way to help you . The staff at this hotel are outstanding !!!

So - if it’s your first time in Crete , book this hotel. They will help you with restaurants and all your doubts and for sure you will LOVE the days you are there. Lovely Bed, super clean , lovely amenities , perfect location on the port ,Do get a car so that you can visit the main attractions, but also Just in front there are so many boat companies to get a boat excursion. We loved it . There is no doubt that we are going back next year !

Porto Veneziano Hotel . We have been in so many hotels , but the kindness and dedication of your staff , Maria , Agapi and Chrysa was simply superb. They work so hard to make you feel welcome and do it only to make you happy . So unique ! The guys at breakfast too , so patient and cheerful. How can your day in Chania not be wonderful! The stay at your hotel was one of the top highlights Thank you...

I could write this review with one sentence…. “The Porto Veneziano is truly my home away from home!” I have stayed at the Porto Veneziano most every year since 2007; some visits as long as a month. However I hasten to add that I am only one of the many people who absolutely adore this hotel and who return year after year! The Porto Veneziano Hotel is an extremely popular year-round destination. Suffice it to say to avoid disappointment ….… book early!

Superbly managed and owned by the Platsidakis family for as long as I can remember, one will enjoy the services and convenience of an excellent hotel as well as the incredible Cretan hospitality that truly defines the charming Old Town of Chania. The staff is consistently “amazing” and quick to anticipate one’s every need in order to provide an enjoyable, comfortable, and care-free visit. In 17 years (minus a couple of COVID cancellations), my reservations have always been handled in the most efficient and thoughtful manner.

The Old Port location of the Hotel affords the convenience of being able to walk everywhere in the Old Town - and - it has a sunset view over the famous lighthouse that would even make Santorini jealous! This prime location also gives one a good base from which to take some great day trips by boat, bus, or car throughout the entire Chania and even the Rethymno Prefectures. The Hotel provides private guest parking and if for any reason it’s full, there is a municipal lot nearby.

While there are many excellent tavernas, cafes, and bars within walking distance, the Hotel offers an extensive food and bar service throughout the day from the bountiful buffet breakfast served harborside, wonderful sandwich plates, to the delightful candle-lit dinners served harborside or in the dining room. The lounge is also very popular with locals and tourists alike and serves everything from Greek herbal teas, coffee, an extensive wine list, drinks and festive cocktails; all with the choice of harborside, indoor, or private garden seating.

From the excellent accommodation to special amenities such as the private parking, bicycle and beach towel loan, and luggage storage, the Porto Veneziano is absolutely my #1 hotel...

My daughter and I stayed for a week at the end of August at Porto Veneziano. We are loyal guests. We had a twin-bedded room on the second floor with a magnificent view of the harbor and the open sea. From the balcony, you can also watch the sun set.|The hotel features elegant architecture and carefully thought-out decor, reminiscent of a ship. Whether it's Eleni, Katharina, or Angela, you will be welcomed at the reception with great professionalism and kindness.|The room is very clean, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the soundproofing is excellent — the rooms are very quiet.|Breakfast is a real treat — whether you choose the buffet or à la carte, the selection is excellent.|The hotel is ideally located in the quiet part of the harbor, perfect for peaceful walks along the jetty.|The restaurant's cuisine is also delicious, as are the appetizers and wines. This hotel is truly classy and fully deserves its 4-star rating. We give it the highest score — 10 out of 10 — and we warmly recommend...

Hotel Porto Veneziano's best asset is its premium location directly on the harbor front facing west. GREAT sunset viewing! It's located away from the more touristed side of Chania but within easy walking distance of the restaurants and shops of Old Town. Many rooms have harbor front views. Rooms are well sized and feature comfortable beds with good linens and are relatively quiet. There is a large selection of breakfast items on the a la carte menu (due to COVID no buffet) to choose from and food is well prepared. The hotel restaurant and bar are open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and there are plenty of local waterfront options to choose from. The hotel is open year round so in addition to vacationers it also attracts a business clientele. Because of the hotel size it also attracts larger tour groups. If you are driving, there is a small hotel parking area (first come) and the road access is relatively easy. Laundry is also a good deal - EUR 9 for a bag turned over in a day!

We stayed in the Superior Suite Sea View Queen on our honeymoon. It is on the third floor, in the corner room. The balcony has great views of the sea and the fortress. It was our favorite hotel of 10 total in Greece, Crete and Santorini. Pros: Great views, close to city center, clean and modern room, comfortable bed, amazing breakfast with great vast selections, friendly and accommodating staff (Michales and Xena were fantastic), black out shades and curtains, great A/C Cons: None at all! Upon check in, they asked if we had any allergies. When they found out my wife has 21 food allergies, the restaurant staff went to the store to buy her food that she is not allergic to, so that she would have a good selection for breakfast. Wow! I wish I could go back, and will if I have the chance to again. Highly recommended!!!
