Just a warning for tourists like us who love eating out.
The food was good but we are removing 2 stars because :
1_They gave us water and bread without even asking. Which we didn't mind at first 2_We ordered the seafood platter telling them specifically 'the seafood platter ' the one of 35 euros. We didn't mention 45 euro nor did we request the 'special seafood platter' as mentioned on their menu And at the end finding out they gave us the platter of 45 euros. As you can see on the bill this was noted correctly revised later. After confronting them they were not friendly. If it was miss communication and they were apologetic we would accept but they denied they said we received the fish so it's 45 euros. So unfortunately we need to leave this commentary. 3_When paying the bill and before noticing the mistake they asked if we want to add a tip. Which this was repeated a few times. We did add a tip we wouldn't have if we have noticed the mistake .
They are clearly seeking ways to make an extra buck bad but this is unfortunately because they do serve good food. This is our first bad experience in Chania there are so many good and very friendly places to eat at.
Still hope other people to have a better experience. We usually read commentaries before but we were sold by the advertisement for the seafood platter
The seafood platter was good. We enjoyed it. The octopus on the other hand was overcooked and wasn't looking/tasting good.
Enjoy your...
Read moreLet me start with the beginning. We arrived at the location, very crowded and cramped, we sat down at the table, the waiter came and asked us where we were from, he brought us a bottle of water and bread. I chose the location to eat a good and fresh fish (I doubt it was fresh because it felt a little like it wasn't really fresh, I eat fish often and I know the fish for so many years if it's fresh or not) this as a parenthesis . I chose the mix fish menu for two people for which I paid 35 euros. We didn't order anything else, we didn't need bread, for which he charged us two euros without touching it. It was nice to ask if we wanted bread, not to put it on the table and then add an extra two euros to the bill. The plate is very good as well as the appearance and what was left I said to put the package, another 1.5 euros for that, however I did not expect them to process in this way. I received a good dessert from part the house, in the end the bill was 38.5 euros. The service was fast, good, but the behavior of the waiters seemed like they want to serve you quickly and get rid of you, plus what bothered me was that he didn't ask if we wanted to pay by card. Everywhere I went, I was asked about this aspect. I give 4 stars with indulgence. Overall the price...
Read moreWe were looking forward to our last meal in Chania and really enjoyed the food - we loved the fried squid in particular, which had perfectly crispy batter and the fish was so fresh. The staff was also very friendly and they served us delicious cake & ice cream “on the house” to conclude the meal.
We were having a wonderful time until we realized that we were the only table that were not also offered the customary raki and the fresh fruit that all the other tables around us were given, in addition to their cake/ice cream. The staff had been so attentive all evening that surely they noticed that we had no fruit nor raki on our table.
At first we wondered if it was because we were tourists, but the table next to us had French-speaking tourists that were also given the raki, fruit, and cake. I could not help but wonder if we were being discriminated against because we were the only Asian customers dining at the restaurant. We had never experienced this at any of the other establishments during our time in Greece.
It is not so much that I really wanted the fruit and drink per se, but it was the principle of being treated differently that left a sour taste in my mouth at the end of our experience. This was unfortunate because the food itself...
