I would rate this place 0 stars if I could.
My fiancé and I came to the restaurant for dinner. As soon as we sat down, a waitress came by and said “okay” while looking down at a device waiting to type in our order… no “hello”, no “what can I get you”… nothing.
We ordered anchovies, pita bread, fava, pasta carbonara and cacio e pepe. We have been really enjoying fava all over Santorini and Crete, so we know good fava! The fava at this restaurant was bland and tasted microwaved. The pasta was terrible! Worst pasta we have ever had in our lives and we have eaten at many many restaurants. The pasta was mushy and the sauce was atrocious.
The worst part of all was we told the waitress, the manager and owner that the food was subpar and we said we would pay for what we ate but we couldn’t eat the rest of the food. Instead of listening to us or really hearing what we were saying, they started defending their food and saying it was good… homemade and all authentic recipes. They also admitted that the fava had been reheated in a microwave. We remained calm and said we didn’t like the food and the owner started getting very aggressive and yelling at us. I was really scared he was going to punch my fiancé with the way he was behaving. Then he got close to me as well and I asked him to stop speaking to us in such an aggressive manner. The owner said he was calling the police on us.. we said it was ridiculous and then the manager came by saying he had called the police as well.
Since we are not from Greece, we didn’t want to get involved with the police and just decided to pay our 40 euro bill.. it seemed like they would do anything to get us to pay. Imagine yelling at a young couple over a 40 euro bill.. When we left the restaurant I started crying because my heart was racing and I was honestly scared the owner was going to hurt my fiancé. I wish we hadn’t paid the bill, but we also weren’t about to get into an altercation with a restaurant owner on our vacation in Greece.
The first red flag was that one of the waiters tried to sell us on the restaurant while we were looking at the menu…
Truly terrible experience. I’ve never had someone yell at me or get in my face like that to the point where I...
Read morePerfect restaurant option for Coeliacs in Chania From my first contact with the staff at Glossities restaurant my stress level reduced - I was in capable hands and could relax and enjoy a Gluten Free meal. The wait staff and kitchen staff are friendly and knowledgeable and experienced in preparing meals for Coeliacs. Fortini (our waitress) guided me through the menu to ensure I had sufficient options. Questions were responded to professionally and a great choice of meals were available. I went with a Grilled Octopus starter which was cooked to perfection - very tasty indeed. This was accompanied by a Cretan Salad - which featured the delicious Mizithra cheese. For main course I went with the Lamb Chops which were the most juicy and tasty I have tasted and were complimented by the delicious salad. My wife had the Mussels which were sublime. The wine list contained an extensive range of local and international options. I went with a local Merlot and was not disappointed. The perfect stop for a Coeliac seeking a stress-free, delicious and safe gluten-free meal. Oh and the view of the sunset is awesome. Best spot on the waterfront from which to enjoy the amazing sunset. 5 star experience - thoroughly...
Read moreThe restaurant was recommended by local friends so I came with my son and Greek girlfriend. I dont speak Greek.
It was a little pricy as expected for the nice setting/ area. The portion sizes were a little small but the food was still good.
The issue was shadiness on the part of the restaurant. The English menu vs the Greek menu has different prices! You would never know this if you didnt speak Greek and were a tourist. I don't necessarily mind this but it's definitely shady. I understand the locals make considerably less money but I still don't find it honest whatsoever. If you're gonna offer different prices for locals versus tourist then just say it.
Second: i ordered a cappuccino which was listed as €4 on the menu and she asked if I wanted it hot or cold. I chose cold. When the bill came it was €5.
We asked the waitress about it and she said the €4 price was for a hot cappuccino and not a cold one. Apparently the ice cost €1.
These are small things and I do not care about the one euro but it's the general principle about it. Bait and switch tactics and dishonestly.
