My wife, son and myself stayed at the Maisonette with Terrace in August. One word....amazing! The apartment is beautiful, very spacious and sympathetically decorated to retain features of the old monastery. My son slept on the sofa bed and it was more than comfortable for him. Lovely modern bathroom and the kitchen facilities are more than adequate. As for the view this must be the best in Chania. Overlooking the old harbour, from the terrace or through the old wooden shuttered windows, was breathtaking and we spent many a day and night just soaking up the view with the old Venetian lighthouse on our doorstep. We were also allowed to reserve the West terrace for private use which provided spectacular sunsets. Both terraces provide exceptional space for three people and complete privacy with no one overlooking. We had guaranteed sunshine from sunrise to sunset.......so much better than being cooped up in a hotel bedroom! Located at the quiet end of the harbour provides a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with the hustle and bustle of the old town within easy walking distance. Irene the owner is the perfect host. She is very friendly making us feel so welcome and was always available to meet any requirements. Thank you Irene for giving us the perfect holiday. San Salvatore has to be the best place to stay in Chania.

Amazing accommodation just yards from the bustle of Chania Port front, but when you close the ancient gate behind you there is perfect peace inside the cloisters. Our ground floor apartment was magical. Every care has been taken to anticipate and meet all our needs. We arrived in a hot period and found the place already cool, possibly air conditioned in advance of arrival? Very effective AC covered the large area. Two bedrooms, one upstairs with a view out to the water. One below, darker for sleeping ease. And the provisions! Cool complimentary wine as well as water in the fridge, chocolates, robes, slippers, fluffy new towels, lovely toiletries. Lots of hanging space and plenty of hangers, all within a beautifully designed bedroom area. The Wi-Fi worked. There were books, a music system and records! Really good showers with A Shelf To Put Things On! ( bugbear of mine, don’t these designers ever shower or do they have a third hand!). Greeted by calm helpful Irene who knows much about the historic interesting building and was very welcoming but never crowded. It is possible to find other comfortable luxury accommodation in Chania, possibly even at a lower cost, but nothing comes close to this. We will long remember our stay after the holiday expenses have been clean forgotten.

This is a fantastic place to stay if you are looking to explore Hania. It is quiet sanctuary amidst the hustle and bustle of the harbour which is a short walk away. The views from the apartment are amazing. Straight over rhe lighthouse. We stayed in the groundfloor apartment as the layout suited our famiy needs better. It was spotlessly clean and our host Irene was delightful, providing us with useful tips on where to go and what to do. She also filled us in on the fascinating history of the building. One piece of advice. If you are travelling by car, parking can be tricky. We went in non peak season and we could park OK in the public car park close to the property but sometimes we had to wait for a space. I think you can pay extra for guaranteed parking. If you are going in high season it is worth...
