We are four 18 year old girls who stayed at these apartments July/ August 2011 for 1 week. When we arrived after the two hour coach journey, we went to reception to find it empty and no-one there to welcome us! Eventually we found the owner, who could barely speak any English and just grunted at us!||When showing us to our room, she demanded payment for the air con and safe straight away, which was 60 euros. The rooms were small and basic, and not very modern, they didn't look anything like the photos. The walls were stained and the balcony was small. The shower was tiny with just a shower tray and a single shower curtain, so water went all over the floor. After a couple of days our towels hadn't been changed and when we asked for more we were given 1 small towel each. Toilet roll was very limited and we had to go to the stock room ourselves in the end to get some. One of the beds also broke underneath, during the night whilst I was sleeping.||The pool bar didn't open until well into the afternoon about 3pm, and the barman always seemed still drunk and pestered us when we trying to sunbathe in peace. The pool itself had far too much chlorine in it and was green and minging! After our first night on the strip, we got back to the hotel and were followed to our room by a greek man, who spoke little English, demanding to know our room number. After an argument we found out this was the hotel security guard that we hadn't been warned about. ||The resort of Malia is lively and we would definately recommend a visit for groups of friends aged 18- 26. The strip is just a couple of minutes from the apartments and the beach is literally a minutes walk. The location of these apartments is great, close to the strip and beach but not too close that you hear all the noise. We would recommend Red Lion and Sticky Fingers to eat out, lovely food and good value. Go to Help Bar for a fishbowl! Banana, Malibu and Candy club were the best places to go on a night. ||Other than the hotel been a let down, we had a fab first girls holiday, and would recommend the Malia resort to others!|| P.s avoid the beach on a night! And take a trip out...
Read more4 of us girls went for a party holiday to malia in july 2011 - the locatuion of the hotel was fantastic in the middle of everything but was nice and quiet on a night time so you could get some sleep. close to the strip, the beach, restraunts bars and best clubs in malia..... however the iris beach apartments we stayed in were disgusting - we turned up in the late afternoon after a 4 hour flight and been sat on a coach for hours - and was greeted by the lady who owns it - she didnt speak a word of english which wasnt very useful her husband didnt speak much english either we had to pay 80 euros for air con that didnt even work - ||the towels were never changed we had to go down on a night EVERY night to a bar next door and ask for towels and they gave us 2 - baring in mind theres 4 girls wasnt good. ||the pool was green and cloudy wasnt clean the pool was dead in the middle of july/august ||we paid for bed and breakfast - there was no breakfast we came down no body there except for a toaster a loaf of bread and some juice! one of the beds in our appartment the bed broke after 2 days, no body came to fix this. the security guard followed us upstairs to our apartment every night which was wierd and caused trouble. there was no reception desk so if anything did happen (broken in to, or injuries) no one there to help. there was no balcony. ||bed sheets non changed all week. plus the bar round the pool ... what bar?? it opened when the bar man wanted to open it which was never because he was always "in bed" !!||overall i would not reccomend this hotel to anyone especially not groups of girls it was dirty disgusting i think living in prision for a week...
Read moreI inadvertantly booked this place because I liked the look of the pool area on Jet2 website and the price was right! Didn't spot the vibe ad and the map showed it as being away from the clubs, close to the beach and plenty of restaurants around. When we arrived we were met by Yannis, who gave us a welcome drink of a fruit cocktail. He even took both suitcases to the room. Once he had given us the basics and we had unpacked, we went and had 1 or 2 cold sherbets. |The room we had been given was a modest size, with 3 beds set out as a single and double. Firm and with clean sheets, just lovely! There was a wardrobe with some hangers, to which Yannis gave us a few more when asked. The shower curtain was a bit of a mare, as it stuck to your butt when having a shower! But we managed. There was a kettle, bits of crockery for 3, cutlery the same and even a toaster! Small fridge and air con. The squeeze had her own hairdryer, so not a problem. There was a safety box in the wardrobe, but as usual we didn't bother.|Out the door, left, and down to the pool area. It was shared with the apartments next door, but there was plenty of space and beds to go round, while we were there. The bar had plenty to drink, there was food to be had too! All the staff here were very friendly towards us.|The biggest thing we found though, considering that the tax was only 20 euros, was that housekeeping were in and changing the sheets every other day! Excellent! We had towels a plenty, toilet rolls and the paper bin went too! All in all we had a wonderful 2 weeks in and...
