At first glance, this hotel seems like a dream — beautiful photos, luxurious promises, and a prime location. But the reality I experienced was a deep disappointment and below 5 star experience hidden behind a polished exterior.||Let me begin with the only two positives: the food was genuinely good, and the housekeeping team did a commendable job keeping the rooms clean. Unfortunately, these were the only glimpses of 5-star service in a hotel that otherwise felt indifferent, dismissive, and at times even hostile.||From the moment we arrived, the receptionist greeted us with what seemed like friendly enthusiasm — but it quickly became clear that her warmth was superficial and sales-driven. She focused primarily on promoting additional services and excursions rather than providing the essential information about our stay. Crucial details — such as which areas we were allowed to access, including pools and sunbathing spaces — were completely left out. Only after we were later confronted for using these areas were we told they were off-limits to us, despite being completely empty at the time. When questioned, the receptionist shifted the blame onto the travel agency, claiming it wasn’t her responsibility to explain what we had purchased. This lack of clarity and accountability led to an embarrassing and frustrating situation that could have easily been avoided with proper communication — something I believe should be a basic expectation in any hotel, let alone one claiming 5-star service.||If you’re renting a car, be warned: the hotel allows its staff to occupy the guest parking lot. When I couldn’t find a space, I was told (with a shrug) that “staff need to park too.” No solution was offered. Other guests were even fined right outside the hotel because the lot was full — not of paying guests’ vehicles, but staff cars. When I raised this issue, I was met with a sarcastic comment: “We’re one of the few hotels that offers parking.” It felt less like a privilege and more like a trap. Other parking areas around the hotel, were for other hotels and hotel receptionist did not care how we were going to park our car.||What made the experience even more uncomfortable was witnessing the way some staff treated their own colleagues. One particular housekeeper was being spoken to in a way that was truly degrading — loud, condescending, and in front of guests. It was deeply unsettling and left a lasting impression by pool guy and another receptionist. Deeply shocking behaviour. Poor lady!||The dining hall? Loud and chaotic. The wait staff cleared dishes with such force and speed that it felt like we were eating in a school canteen rather than a luxury resort. It shattered any sense of peace we hoped to enjoy during dinner and we were made feel as if "eat quickly because we have other clients waiting" sense. It was so loud, annoying and extremely stressful.||My room had ants crawling around, and for three days, the air conditioning didn’t work in the middle of a heatwave properly. I only found out later that the AC vents were manually closed — something no one helped check or explain. Sleep was impossible, especially with loud guests partying at night, despite complaints made to reception. It is part of hotel guidelines and Crete's law to have night silence after 23. Hotel receptionists did not care to control it, rather ignore it and accept the fact that people pay to not be able to sleep.||And then came the final blow — a €200 tourist tax, significantly higher than what other guests in nearby 5-star hotels paid. We were told this was standard, but it clearly wasn’t. It felt like the hotel was squeezing every last cent out of us, with no concern for fairness or transparency.||I’ve worked in hotels myself. I’ve traveled to over 20 countries and stayed in many 5-star properties all over Europe. I’ve never encountered such disrespect, mismanagement, and indifference. This was not a luxury experience — it was a lesson in what happens when appearances matter more than people.||To those considering this hotel: please look beyond the glossy photos. There are better options nearby, with staff who genuinely care and properties that live up to their rating. This hotel may have five stars, but it offers a three-star experience at best — and that’s only thanks to the food and...
Read moreThis trip was booked for our 4th year anniversary as a luxury stop on our trip along the northern coast. First thing i want to mention is that this hotel is not 5, even though they advertise as such on websites such as luxury escapes etc. Its more like a 3 hotel with good interior design taste. The real gem of this hotel is it's location, but tbh there are lots of other hotels in the immediate area with beaches and views just as good.
The sea was beautifully warm at this time of year, and there is a lifeguard in the beach. However, be careful of the northern crete winds, there were a few days we couldn't swim and the red flag was out.
The hotel has plentiful sun loungers in the beach, but the gazebos come with a minimum spend. The sun loungers are just as good and often in better a better position for the sun than the gazebos.
The food was ok, but nothing in comparison to other 5* hotels we have stayed at in crete. It was a buffet breakfast and dinner. Some of the food was stale or overcooked, but the fresh fruit was wonderful.
The room was clean and had a great view from the balcony. The cleaners do a great job of making sure the rooms and common areas are clean throughout the day, and are very friendly.
Just a note about the 'free' 15 minute massage, you actually have to pay for a full massage and then you get 15 minutes free from that, so essentially it's just a discount.
One of the worst parts about this hotel though is the service and staff attitudes. The water was cut off to the hotel multiple times in one day, meaning we couldn't even use the toilets or shower. The staff shrugged it off with a sorry and said you have to wait for it to be turned back on...which took over an hour on one occasion. No alternative provisions were even attempted, such as offering free bottled water to wash with considering this hapoend during dinner service. Another thing they could have done was ensure dinner service lasted longer that day as many people could not get ready due to the water issues. Tbh, it just seemed like they did not care and were doing the absolute bare minimum.
Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again, especially for the price. You can get much nicer hotels with better service for less. I would return to the area again as the views and beaches were beautiful, but would...
Read moreTo start, this is not a 5* hotel so temperature your expectations before booking. We booked this for our wedding anniversary so we were looking for a bit more.||The good:|The location is perfect as it's right next to the beach and in August the sea is perfect to swim in. Its also far enough away from the main strip that you won't hear any noise. The rooms have lovely balcony's with amazing views.||The free sunbeds are available most times (though we were here at the off season in August).||The room we had was spacious and from what we could see it was clean.||The cleaners do a great job of making sure the rooms and common areas are clean.||The main pool is warm in august. Not sure if it's heated but it was a good temperature. ||The bad:|The food was ok, not amazing and several dishes were definitely stale. Its better than eating our every night but don't have high expectations.||Make sure you have your card on you when going to the beach as you will be harassed to prove you can be there. ||The 'free' 15 minute massage is a scam, as you have to still pay for a full session. The '15 minutes free' is just a re-worded 10% discount. ||The water cut off in our room multiple times and the whole hotel lost water at least once that we knew of. While this isnt something the hotel can control the response from reception was just a shrug and told to wait ( reception couldn't do anything directly themselves). No provisions were made, especially as you couldn't use the toilets It's worrying that the water failed multiple times.||Just FYI (not good or bad):||Your not allowed to bring drinks anywhere downstairs (understandable as they want to make extra money from you at the bar next door). It would just have been nice to know beforehand. The drinks at the bar are comparatively expensive (around €10 for a cocktail and €8 for a 500ml beer) ||The Jacuzzi that's advertised is €20 an hour. Again, would have been nice to know beforehand. ||If your trying to decide between this and a 4* hotel, we've definitely had...
