My experience at your establishment this morning went far beyond "poor service"; it was a blatant and disgusting act of discrimination and humiliation.
During my visit today, I encountered the most malicious treatment I have experienced in years of travel. An older female staff member (whose appearance we remember clearly) immediately treated us differently from other customers upon seeing us. Like interrogating a criminal, she aggressively questioned and accused us over bringing outside coffee.
When I politely explained that we were in a rush all morning and meant no offense, she performed the most insulting act possible: She glanced at us with contempt, then turned and walked away from our table without a single word.
This was no oversight—it was intentional disdain. Differential Treatment: We observed that she did not enforce the same "rule" with other customers. Refusal to Communicate: Walking away mid-explanation made it clear she believed we were unworthy of her service or even a response. Creating a Hostile Environment: She succeeded in making us, as paying customers, feel inferior and unwelcome.
We fully understand restaurant policies, but rules must not be used as an excuse for staff to vent malice or discriminate. Any minimally trained employee knows to say, "I'm sorry, but we don’t allow outside drinks. May I help you dispose of it?"—not to publicly shame a customer and then abandon them.
Final Warning: Until management takes concrete action and publicly addresses this discriminatory culture, we strongly advise all international visitors—and anyone who does not wish to be publicly humiliated because of their background during a meal—to avoid this establishment entirely. Our experience serves as a...
Read moreEvery time we drived by Cafe Almyrida, on our way to Yaliskari beach we used to say: let's go for coffee one day. After visiting Paleochora for 15 years, we finally made it. This place is mostly for breakfast. We got there late around 3pm before they're ready to close. They were very nice and friendly and they allowed us to sit. The place is super simple. It's just like: I am a local guy, I have a terrace with a good view of the sea; I'll find some tables and chairs and I'm going to open a Cafe. I know how to make coffee, I'll prepare a menu with 6-7 items and I'm in business. My wife ordered a fruit salad and I ordered fried eggs. Since the kitchen was open I went there to chat with the simple and friendly owners. It reminded me of like: what fruits are there in the refrigerator? I'll use them to make the salad. The day was very hot and the shade not great. The view of the sea was not a reason to spend more time there. Beach time. Cheers...
Read moreI don’t usually respond to the reviews of others but I feel I must make an exception on this occasion. The lengthy somewhat hostile review needs some context. Bringing one’s own coffee into a cafe is impolite and thoughtless and many cafe owners would have refused entry, this did not happen in any way. My husband and I commented on the courtesy of the staff in dealing with this inappropriate behaviour. Unfortunately I feel the reviewer had red flags fluttering before she stepped inside and the cafe bore the brunt of her discontent. Anyone who has visited this cafe will , I’m sure, be as surprised and mystified by this unpleasant outpouring , as...
