After a short journey in the minibus from the airport, we were met as expected by Katerina and her mother. We were given a room with a huge terrace which we shared with the occupants of one other studio.||Our studio was large with a separate kitchen. A double and single bed in the bedroom. The air conditioning unit was effective, but it was quite windy all week and as the outside extractor of the air con unit was in the full force of the wind, there was a continuous clop clopping noise from it. It sounded like there was a horse trotting about by the bedroom window all of the time. I did take earplugs with me which were very useful.||The studio itself was very good. Good fluffy towels were replaced every other day. ||The shower over the bath was hot and powerful.||Katerina did allow us to keep our room until the minibus arrived at 6pm to take us back to the airport, but she charged us 50 Euros. But given the high cost of everything in Mykonos we thought this was fair, especially as the WiFi, safe and air con were all included in the original booking cost. (We have paid 60 Euros just for air con in some places.)||The steep hill where the studios were wasn’t too much of a problem for us, but can understand that some people may have difficulties with it.||There was a bakery and shop up the hill next to the Nikos Gallup restaurant, and also one down the hill from the studios about 300 metres away next to a car and quad bike hire. They also did cheaper coffees for 3 Euros here and made sandwiches to order.||We found the beach at Pagara and Agios Anna just along the cliff path was cheaper for sunbeds(18Euros) and also a beach on the other side of the car park from there with a large area to lay towels on the sand if you didn’t want to pay the 60 Euros for front row sunbeds on the main Platys Gialos beach. There were a few people doing their naturist thing there though, so if you don’t like that sort of thing then avoid that beach.||||We had to contact Katerina fairly late one night (her phone number is on the info sheet in the studio) as our water suddenly got cut off. Katerina got it sorted very quickly for us and couldn’t be more helpful. I can’t understand how some other reviewers said they never saw anyone all week, as Katerina’s mother lives on site and the cleaner was always around for most of the day and we found Katerina could always be contacted by phone anyway for any problems.||We found Mykonos to be extremely expensive and in some areas very pretentious. It is totally different to any of the other Greek islands that we have visited, and has lost it’s Shirley Valentine rustic charm.||If we win the lottery we will return to Mykonos and definitely stay at these...
Read moreWell equipped, perfectly located, clean studio, just what we wanted.||||Katerina very welcoming, our flight was delayed so we arrived quite late and were worried we would not be able to get something to eat, but as soon as we stepped off the transfer she told us what was open, what she recommended, and how to get there. ||||There is a steep hill, we took short cut through the hotel opposite to cut off some of the steep hill if anyone is worrying about some other reviews on this. ||||We initially wanted to stay somewhere in mykonos town but actually so glad we ended up in platis gialos as there was a nicer beach, not as busy resort and still good atmosphere, still very easy to get to mykonos town with bus being 1.80 ||||There is a water taxi to other beaches from platis gialos, literally a 5 minute walk, if you get a ticket for elia beach the first time you use it as this is the last stop then you can see all the other beaches on the way. We found this satisfied our need for a boat trip so didnt fork out for the excursions.||||We were worried about having no pool but beaches are gorgeous and we found some other hotels in the resort that let us use their pool if we bought drinks, this was great for the last day as we had late flight and as katerina studios were fully booked they couldn't give us late check out (but worth asking for it) so we used to the hotel pool shower too.||||Eat at the fish restaurant up the hill! We werent going to as ones on the beach were in a nicer setting, but this was one of our favourite meals. If you want cheap drink in mykonos town there is a bar called mex. A hidden gem in mykonos town for amazing cocktails that are more expensive but worth it for sunset view is also called katerinas.||||Day trips I would stick to beach hopping, for a change we wanted to go to ano mera which was recommended online but was very quite and not much to it, lot of nicer places to see, we left within 5 minutes of getting there.||||Paraga beach one of our faves, amazing beach clubs, but for things like water there is a shop hidden behind the beach clubs so you dont have to pay like 8 euro beach club price for water. ||||There is a city tax charge but it was so cheap something like 4 euros for the week so dont worry about...
Read moreWe arrived at the studios greeted by Katerina herself who explained where all of the local amenities were. The room was basic but clean and towels changed daily, sheets only changed once in our 2 week stay, which was an issue as we spent mosy of our time at the sandy beaches as there was no pool. It would have been nice to see katerina as we had questions about the resort but we didn't see or have contact with her throughout our 2 weeks. We had a late flight departing and still didnt manage to contact katerina as we would have liked to keep the room on for longer as check out was 10.30am. ||We found Platis Gialos to be a very small resort with only a few restaurants to choose from. There were no bars/taverns. We have travelled to many greek islands but found Mykonos overly expensive. One night we paid €52 for 2 pizzas and 2 soft drinks!!! We also found the water taxis more expensive than what other people have said, we got charged €10 each to a beach not far from us- Ornos. Eating places weren't very accommodating if you requested changes to food dishes. We found most people to be rude and unfriendly unlike most islands we have visited.||The sunbeds and umbrellas were ridiculously expensive on most beaches we visited (we hired a Quad bike) ranging from 20 euros to 100+ euros. We enjoyed Psarrou beach, which a 10 minute walk away from the studios, and found it to be a little quieter than Platis Gialos beach and less developed. We did pay €35 for sunbeds here though.||Money Talks!!!||We did really enjoy the local bakery which was up the hill, less than 50 meters away. We also enjoyed crepes and sandwiches from delicious which was down the road.||We travelled into mykonos town frequently on the bus for €1.80 and found it had more variety of restraunts that were a little cheaper. The views are beautiful here and mykonos is naturally stunning, just don't expect value...
