From the moment we stepped into Il Mare, we knew we had discovered something truly special. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between laid-back island charm and refined elegance. With breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea, soft ambient lighting, and a gentle ocean breeze, it felt like we were dining in a postcard.

The service was nothing short of exceptional. Every member of the team was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive without ever being intrusive. They anticipated our needs before we even realized them and made us feel like honored guests rather than just customers.

The food was an absolute triumph. Each dish was a perfect blend of fresh, local ingredients and creative culinary artistry. The seafood was incredibly fresh—tender, flavorful, and prepared to perfection. The pasta with lobster was divine, the grilled fish melted in the mouth, and the desserts were pure indulgence. The wine list complemented the menu beautifully, offering both excellent local selections and international favorites.

On the second night of our holiday we had looked up the reviews for Il Mare and decided to go here for our evening meal.

We were welcomed and seated very quickly, with menus for a range of different foods and drinks. We had gotten the bottle of Chardonnay for €25, which we thoroughly enjoyed. My partner and I ordered starters (Calamari and Stuffed Vine Leaves) and two mains (spinach and ricotta ravioli and sautéed shrimp in ouzo sauce + rice).

There are no words to describe how delicious and flavourful the food is. Every dish was made to perfection and the portion sizes were very good. The calamari was accompanied with a delicious saffron sauce which completed the dish. The stuffed vine leaves were tasty and had Greek yogurt which made the dish even more fulfilling!

The mains, similar to the starters, were phenomenal. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the ouzo sauce was divine. There really are no words that can describe how well this restaurant can cook their food. Both my partner and I agreed that it was one of the best, if not the best, meal we have ever had.

The dinner and experience we had here was out of this world! I picked it after reading google reviews. The shrimp and rice is their specialty, so I ordered it and was blown away. We shared the caprese salad which was like none other. I think the cheese was homemade locally. Best ever. My husband had the souvlaki with fries and he absolutely loved it. We shared the pear pie which was unbelievably delicious! It came with ice cream. We were then served fresh watermelon and then masticha liqueur. He helped us by suggesting how to get the local bus instead of getting a cab. $4 vs $25, hmmmm. So delighted, so delicious, and so friendly. We have been in Athens for 4 days and weren’t thrilled with the service there. This restaurant really made our experience on Mykonos...
