Sleeping with Ants
We arrived at the hotel, which looked very charming and is located in an excellent area with convenient adjacent parking that makes arriving by car easy.
The suite we booked was very impressive — spacious, nicely decorated, and overall had a high-quality feel. We understood that breakfast would be served to the room, and indeed, it was delivered at 9:00 AM. However, we found it odd that there was no proper way to eat the breakfast, as there was no table in the otherwise large and beautiful room. We ended up eating standing up, which wasn’t ideal, but manageable.
Already in the morning before we left the room for the day, we noticed a few ants in the room, which struck us as quite strange. We mentioned it at the reception and asked them to inform housekeeping to take care of it during cleaning.
Throughout the day, we returned to the room a few times but didn’t stay for long periods. At the end of the day, as we were packing up in preparation for our checkout the next morning, we moved one of our bags and discovered a swarm of ants — which was quite shocking. We then lifted the bed sheet and found dozens more ants wandering around the room.
I went down to the reception to ask to be moved to another room but was told the hotel was fully booked and no other rooms were available. When I asked the receptionist what I was supposed to do, he suggested that perhaps we had eaten in the room and that this was the cause — and that ants were a natural consequence. I explained that I didn’t think it was reasonable to be sleeping in a hotel room full of ants, but he repeated that there was nothing they could do and that it likely happened because of food leftovers in the room.
I found it very strange to place the blame on the guests for eating in the room when breakfast is served directly to the room, and there is no designated place to eat it. We ended up having to spend the night in that same room, with our 3-month-old baby, after having to argue with the front desk just to receive fresh bedding at the very least.
Needless to say, such an unpleasant experience — which was met with neither an appropriate solution nor empathy from the hotel staff — overshadows all the positive aspects the hotel may have to offer and completely...
Read moreRoom has issue with noise from A/C / heater. Room was freezing cold when we arrived so we had to turn it up all the way. Receptionist's advise to minimize noise was to turn the setting to humidifier, which obviously was not heating up the ice cold room, so it wasn't an actual solution. We weren't offered another room because 'they are all like that'. ||In any case, things happen. That wasn't so serious and some people can sleep with noise. ||Biggest issue though was how the management handled our situation. Or lack of management to be exact. We ended up leaving cause we wouldn't be able to sleep from the noise -- and when I tried to find someone to speak to the next day there was absolutely no person in charge. No management, nobody to talk to that could handle customer relationships. Only scared receptionists who were obviously threatened not to give out any names. They were texting with someone that was forbidding them from providing any info, and encouraged them to keep feeding us ridiculous excuses as why there is no manager in the hotel. They handled the situation by accusing me and my partner of lying and providing a false explanation of the situation. Receptionist (that are of no fault) were literally shaking out of fear and shame and apologized to us as they were not allowed to speak. Extremely strange and shady. ||Both me and my travel agent tried to get people on the phone the next day to address the issue and they were still refusing to provide names or get someone in charge to speak to us. Not even over the phone. There is something very sketchy going on, feels like money laundering business or some similar illegal business situation. I have never been to a business or establishment that staff and people who handle reservations refuse to give out hotel manager information or names of people in charge. Even if you go to the smallest cafe on the street, a person will show up and say who they are and introduce themselves if there's an issue. ||I ended up finding out who the owner is, but I am not going to take this further. Just feel like warning people to make a safer and wiser choice. it's all very suspicious and not professional. A shame for a new business in the center...
Read moreStaying at this hotel was an absolute nightmare. The cleanliness was unacceptable – the bathroom grout was black with dirt, the corners of the room were dusty and neglected, and the carpet in the hallways was so filthy and worn out that it was disgusting to walk on.||The service was just as awful. One day I had just returned to my room alone and was about to take a shower when I suddenly heard the door unlock and footsteps entering – without any warning or knocking. A complete stranger, a man with a key card and tools, walked into my room. I asked what was happening, but he just mumbled something in Greek and went straight into the bathroom. Apparently, it was for some kind of “issue” I had never reported and that clearly didn’t exist, because he left a minute later without doing anything. I was alone in the room – a young woman – while my parents were staying in another. The experience was terrifying. I spent the rest of my stay sleeping with a chair pushed up against the door, afraid someone would come in while I was changing or asleep. This is absolutely unacceptable!||To make matters worse, the housekeeper clearly entered the room at some point, because clean towels had been left on the bed – but the bed itself hadn’t been made. That’s not service, that’s neglect.||The noise level was unbearable – zero soundproofing, constant street noise, shouting, slamming doors. It was impossible to get any rest.||And worst of all – the photos on the booking websites have NOTHING to do with reality! They’re misleading, heavily edited, and completely fake.||I would never, ever return to this place. The hotel is unsafe, dirty, and shows complete disregard for basic hospitality and guest security....
