Overal 5/5. We really loved our 2 nights here and we’re very sad to leave. The hotel is a family business and they live on-site. It shows, as the attention to detail is spot on. It feels like you are staying in a small Greek village. Quite a few returning guests. Superb overall.||Arrival 5/5. I booked directly using their website. They quickly confirmed by email and offered to arrange a transfer from the ferry port, as taxis on the island are limited. As promised, we were met at the port. Approx 15 minute drive to the hotel. The reception area is lovely. Very airy and spacious with a bar and excellent seating areas. They kindly showed us to our room.||Room 5/5. Superb - it feels like a Greek home. Very spacious. Large and very comfy bed. Fridge, tv and a kettle for tea and coffee. Bedside shelves. Double doors to a large balcony with sea view. Aircon. Large dressing table and chair. Lots of power sockets. Very light and airy feel to the bedroom. Good Wi-Fi everywhere.||Our suite also had a separate lounge area with another tv and a second aircon. A second set of doors to the balcony. Table and chairs. Again all very bright. Lots of very quaint ornaments etc. Plenty of storage space. Key safe.||Balcony 5/5. Very large and overlooking the nice pool area and the sea beyond. We sat out each evening in the mild June air.||Bathroom 5/5. Very spacious with a massive whirlpool bath with shower above. Hairdryer.||Pool 5/5. Lovely. Plenty of very well padded loungers and lots of lovely shaded seating areas. The pool is large and very well maintained. The water quality was excellent. Again the attention to detail was apparent everywhere.||Location 4/5. The hotel is east facing, so it can never compete with those hotels facing the famous Santorini Caldera sunset, but the iconic Thira cliffs are only a few minutes walk away. We went to watch the sunset at one of the many bars near the cable car. As always now in Santorini, the narrow streets near the cable car were jammed in the daytime with cruise ship visitors. Fortunately the hotel is just far enough away to limit the cruise effect. There’s a mini market 50 meters away and the excellent Greek restaurant Tholoto, 15 meters away, where we ate both nights. Lovely views across the pool to the sea beyond.||Overall 5/5. Faultless in every way. It feels like you are staying in a Greek house in a Greek village. The attention to detail is apparent everywhere. However much I tried? I could not think of anything negative about this fab...
Read moreThis is a beautiful hotel right at the centre of Thira, the capital of Santorini. From the hotel there are extensive views across the eastern side of the island away from the caldera. The hotel consists of a series of Cycladic buildings in a semi circle around a pool. The rooms are accessed from the pool area either directly or via stone steps. Our room was up a flight of stone steps and was reasonably spacious with a patio, air conditioning and an en-suite shower room. The air conditioning was directly in from of the bed, which caused some problems with the draught. In addition there was a serious lack of storage space for anybody staying more than a couple of nights.||The walk up to the edge of the caldera from the hotel was a relatively short distance but involved quite a climb or a walk along a busy road with no unobstructed walkways. This is a hotel not to be recommended for seniors or for those with mobility issues. Santorini and particularly Thira is not to be recommended in July and August as it is far too busy. While we were there, in addition to the hoards of regular visitors, most days there were four cruise ships in the caldera.||In the hotel, breakfast was served in the room and had to be either ordered the day before or in the morning if we were prepared to wait. The order form consisted of five optional menus which were all almost identical except of the savoury options. Breakfast was then eaten on the balconies or patios. Strangely there was no pool service despite the presence of an underutilised bar adjacent to the reception.||The hotel staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. My wife had neglected to pack some vital medication, but the staff came to the rescue, contacting a local pharmacy a short distance away who had the medication available to be purchased over the counter at a very low cost.||In conclusion, this is a hotel with immense potential that does not seem to be being realised. A pool service and a breakfast facility would greatly enhance the charms that are inherent...
