We first visited Marianna last year and when we had some spare leave thought we would come back again for some much needed relaxation. ||Much has remained the same since our last visit, the clean rooms, lovely breakfast and amazingly attentive barman are still as great as they were. The breakfast room has had an upgrade with a new chiller cabinet and décor which was lovely. The bar has lighting and hanging plants to give it more atmosphere and a more welcoming feel. ||One change that wasn't positive was a new reception team, last year Tracey was welcoming and helpful and couldn't do enough for guests. There are 2 receptionists now, for whom customer service doesn't seem to come naturally. During the day they advised guests to walk to the supermarket for extra milk for their coffee. It was obvious when guests came to the reception desk it was an inconvenience interrupting them eating or drinking. We were also aware of inappropriate and unwanted flirting with guests by the young male receptionist. Hopefully this will be addressed by the management as it would be a shame if this were to spoil the 45 year reputation of this otherwise amazing little family-run hotel. ||To address the comments left by Simon C guests can choose to pay for their drinks at the bar either each time they order, at the end of the day/evening or on their room bill...
Read moreFrom the first moment we arrived, until we left, our stay at the Marianna was perfect. The staff are all lovely, the rooms are well proportioned and our 2 rooms had views over the pool and the sea. ||The pool area and bar are well kept and a good size. As other reviews have mentioned, there were no towel wars to lay claim to a sunbed - there were always beds available, no matter the time of day. ||The bar is really well run and the barman is so lovely and super helpful - always willing to offer advice and have a chat. ||The rooms - as with the rest of the hotel - were kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. ||The location is great. With it being out of the centre of Perissa, it was lovely and quiet, but also only a 5 mins downhill walk to the beach and the first crop of bars and restaurants. Perissa itself has lots to offer by way of bars and restaurants, but balances that well with being a calm and pleasant resort. It is also a perfect location to visit the busier towns of Fira and Oia, along with a number of beautiful smaller villages scattered locally. ||Our only minor grumble was the lack of self catering options and small size of fridge in the rooms, but I put that down to me not reading descriptions sufficiently in advance, as everything else was perfect. ||Do not hesitate to book and we will hopefully be back...
