Pitogyros Traditional Grill House - Gyros, souvlaki, kebab. — Restaurant in Municipality of Thira

The best gyros I've ever had. My wife and I first stopped here after the hike from Imerovigli to Oia. After trying it, we said we had to try it again just to confirm we weren't just starving from the hike and thought the food was better than it was. Once staying in Oia, we went back again and confirmed the food was as good as we thought. Then, we came again one last time before our flight home, bringing gyros to the airport for lunch as our final meal in Santorini. Pork and chicken gyros were perfect, all of the components are delicious, the pita, meat, tzatziki and potatoes are delicious. The perfect ratios of each. We also tried their chicken and pork souvlaki, the kebab platter and fried Naxian potatoes, plus some tzatziki and spicy cheese dip. All were absolutely fantastic. The souvlaki meat is juicy and tender, perfectly spiced. Kebab platter was also good, but overshadowed by the gyro and souvlaki being so amazing. Prices are extremely reasonable. 우리는 2주째 여행하고 있고, 처음 겪어보는 서비스였습니다.

우리는 유럽의 식당 서비스가 어떻게 돌아가는지 알고 있습니다. 직원이 바쁘면 이해하고 기다릴 수 있고, 문화차이로 인한 무례한 행동을 하지 않으려 노력했습니다.

그러나 이 식당 직원의 태도는 이해하기 조금 어려웠고, 우리가 동양인이라는 사실이 그 태도에 영향을 미쳤는지 의심스럽습니다.

우리는 2024년 10월 3일 저녁 7시15분경에 카드로 결제했고, 검은 긴 생머리에 회색 유니폼을 입은 여성 종업원입니다.

밥을 다 먹고 결제하려고 할 때, 그녀는 우리쪽을 보면서 야외 테이블을 신경쓰고 있었습니다. 하지만 저와는 눈이 5번 넘게 마주쳤는데도 결제하러 오기는커녕 무시했습니다. 우리가 여행하면서 만난 다른 모든 직원은 이럴 때 미소를 짓거나 잠시 기다려달라고 말하면서 그들이 내 말을 듣고 있다는 신호를 주었습니다. 하지만 그녀는 그냥 무시했습니다.

그 후로도 눈이 마주치지 않게 일부러 시선을 피하거나 우리를 등지고 걸어다녔습니다. 여러 번이나.

나중에 결제받으러 왔을 때는 눈을 마주치지 않고 먼 곳을 보며 말했습니다. 서빙 일 때문에 다른 테이블을 신경써야 해서 그런 것 같지는 않아보였습니다.

우리는 모든 직원에게 Thank you라는 말을 자주 하는데, 그녀만 한 번도 말이나 표정으로 대답한 적 없습니다. 대답하는 게 의무는 아니지만 그녀의 다른 행동을 고려했을 때 고의적이라고 느꼈습니다.

We have been traveling for two weeks, and this was the first time we experienced such service.

We understand how restaurant service works in Europe. If the staff is busy, we are willing to wait patiently, and we try not to act rudely due to cultural differences.

However, the attitude of this restaurant staff was somewhat difficult to understand, and we are suspicious that the fact we are Asian may have influenced this behavior.

We paid by card at around 7:15 PM on October 3, 2024, and the server was a woman with long black hair in a gray uniform.

When we finished eating and tried to pay, she was paying attention to the outdoor tables. We made eye contact more than five times, yet she never came to take our payment, and instead, ignored us. Every other staff member we've encountered during our travels would either smile or tell us to wait a moment, showing that they acknowledged us. But she simply ignored us.

Finally, after waiting for a while, I called “Excuse me” as she passed by our table, but she walked past us with her back turned and only took the additional order from the next table.

After that, she deliberately avoided eye contact or walked around with her back toward us. This happened several times.

When she finally came to take our payment, she spoke while looking far away, avoiding eye contact. It didn’t seem like she was distracted by other tables due to serving duties.

We always say “Thank you” to all the staff, but she never responded, either verbally or with any expression. While it is not mandatory to respond, given her other behavior, it felt intentional.

We had planned to have dinner in Oia and watch the sunset, but due to the delayed payment caused by her, we were only able to take photos after the sun had almost set. We specifically came to this restaurant because it was recommended, so it's disappointing to have had...

It's very clear why this place is so busy, the food is great. We ended up waiting 20 minutes for a table but if you are okay with takeaway you won't have to wait as long. Either way you need to wait in the line to the register to either order or put your name on the waiting list.

We went simple and got the chicken gyro in a pita wrap. Every part of the gyro--the meat, fries, tzatziki sauce, pita, were delicious and exactly what we were looking for. I did a little bit of salt and it was even better. My husband also ordered a side of their chilly sauce to add to it. They tell you it's spicy but it's not really & is more of a nice added flavor.

If you want a good quality gyro while in Santorini this is a great spot. If you are traveling by ATV/buggy/motorcycle like we and many others did, there is also a decent amount of parking really close by on the main road in front of where you walk up the short pedestrian only street...
