Picturesque Blue Dome Santorini — Attraction in Municipality of Thira

That we were lucky enough to book a suite in between the two famous churches and didn’t really have to compete with the crowds for sunset views is the only reason I’m giving this 2 stars instead of 1.

Still, it was a nightmare in its own way - people actually started climbing into our balcony to take photos, completely ignoring the clearly posted sign on the gate reading “private suite”, and had to yell at them to gtfo. In fact the entire walkway beyond the first blue dome is behind a privacy gate that is supposed to be for residents and paying guests only, and says as much on posted signs but people just ignore it.

Anything special in Oia has long since been overshadowed by the never-ending sea of rude, inconsiderate tourists. The only time I actually felt good here was at night and early in the morning when...

The view is stunning and the queuing is acceptable (we could accept 30 -45 mins with the view). Tourist are respecting each other and take good fair amount of time and keep quiet when too close to the hotel.

Problems is the local photographer - very rude, skipping the queue, and claim only they can take pictures there as they are “working” and yeah they definitely take more than a couple of minutes.

Highly recommend the hotel made a clear sign which area is not allowed - we will respect the rule or made special pass for “photographer” if they have the authority

Santorini service team unfortunately fail the expectation...

Oia is truly magical and lives up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. The iconic whitewashed buildings, blue-domed churches, and stunning views of the caldera are breathtaking. Watching the sunset here is an unforgettable experience, but it can get crowded, so arriving early is worth it for a good spot.
