The Birds Villa Apartments — Hotel in Municipality of Thira

Once and never again. We booked this hotel based on the reviews on Google. Unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed. When we arrived and checked the rooms, we found dirt, dust and hair everywhere. When we reported this to Alexandra, she was very angry and initially claimed that this was not true because she checked the room by herself. When we showed her the dirt, she wanted to blame us first, but then she had to realize that it was not our fault since we were only there for 10 minutes. Later, when we didn't finish breakfast because we weren't hungry from the trip, she was angry again. The room was never cleaned properly and there was dust and dirt everywhere. Also, no money was ever invested in the renovation. The door chime was broken, the air conditioner is falling apart, the first bathroom had a missing bracket and the other had a permanent toilet leak. The foam always came out in the shower. The toilet brush is filled with water and feces. The pool is broken and there are always tiles falling out, which are on the ground. The holes in the pool are sharp and dangerous. In the first bathroom loose cables came out of the wall. Not all the lights went on in the room and there was still nasal spray from the previous tenant. None of the bedroom doors and bathroom doors could be closed, they kept opening. If someone was on the toilet, you could experience it directly. The kitchen was oily and the stove was smeared. We upgraded the free car and ordered one with 6 seats and 2 child seats. The €530 including insurance was exorbitant for the service. The car was scrap. It had over 250,000 kilometers and fell apart. Even though it was an automatic, it hadn't shifted properly. The two child seats could also not be used safely because the holder for them was also missing. The interior light was broken. But this is almost an advantage, because otherwise it would have always been on, the doors no longer closed properly and the seal was broken. Basic but clean apartment, we had a 2 bedroom apartment with a sofa bed, air con available at no extra cost. |We did occasionally have a not very nice smell from the bathroom but that’s probably to do with the drains, |Breakfast and a car was included in our booking, the car was basic and had no air conditioning but it came with the villa. |The breakfast was served between 9-11am which we found rather late as we like to get up and out early on holiday, I also found the breakfast a bit odd, our first day we had some kind of cannelloni dish, and on the other day garlic bread? Wasn’t what we were expecting.|One of the ladies that does the breakfast seemed a bit angry we hadn’t cancelled breakfast but we never got told we had to, when we arrived we were asked what time we wanted it and we said 7.30am this never happened.||The pool area is lovely and clean, the pool is salt water, as is the ester in the showers I believe. Disappointing Stay at Birds Villa Apartments, Santorini

I recently stayed at Birds Villa Apartments in Santorini with friends, attracted by the affordable package. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory.

From the moment we checked in, there was a strong sewer smell, and the room was dusty, as if it hadn’t been cleaned. Worse, we found period and fecal stains on the toilet, which was completely unacceptable. A major plumbing issue followed: using the sink caused dirty water to overflow into the shower. Even after the cleaning staff attempted to fix it, the foul odor persisted, forcing us to leave the apartment temporarily.

The daily cleaning service was equally poor. Our belongings were carelessly moved, and the floors were left sticky and dirty.

When we raised these issues during checkout, the agency was rude, dismissive, and talked over us, clearly uninterested in addressing our concerns.
