As a former resident of Antigua there are lots of hotels like this one. Like others have said in the reviews, the rooms are super clean, the bathrooms are nice, they have flat screen tv's in every room and it truly is a cute little hotel. What is exceptional is how nice, kind, and super friendly the owner and his son are. Thats what makes this review a little difficult for me. I so want to love this hotel and support this hotel and the owners but there are 2 things that you will likely struggle with if you stay here. 1. Its kinda noisey. Yes, they have parking inside....literally inside. We were in bed and asleep at 10:00 pm and awaken to the sound of a car backing into the downstairs court yard and they noise was loud enough to sound like we were sleeping in the garage. One solution for this is if the owners advertised; "If you wanna park your car in our facilities you must be here by 9 pm".||Another issue that seems to be a common challenge for the hotel is that while the bathrooms are large and in good shape the water pressure is 1-2 psi. We have stayed here twice and both times have had issues with water pressure. I wanted to see how long it took to get hot water to our bathroom and one time it took 18 minutes of running the shower. The water pressure was so poor that it took my daughter 10-15 minutes to rinse the shampoo from her hair. I was told by another guest you have to ask the attendant to turn up the pressure but that doesn't help at all. To give you an example it would take approximately a minute to fill a coffee cup or 12 oz. glass.||So, my review is one that I hope the super polite and nice owners see so they can fix this issue. I would definitely go back and return year after year if they fixed these issues AND I would just go to be later at night so I was awoken by cars pulling into the...
Read moreThis was my 1st time in Antigua Guatemala and it did not disappoint. I was here for a 2-week mission trip and the staff here made it feel like home. Every day they greet you with a warm smile and ask when you would like coffee the following day and offer to make breakfast for a charge. Their breakfast was delicious. You get eggs, plantains, mashed up black beans, bread, or pan dulce. Jose was very kind and would bring a bottle of water to your room every evening and ask you how your day went. ||||The view when you walk out of the hotel is spectacular where you can see the volcano. Its close to the Arch which is near many restaurants, shops, churches, and bars. ||||You do need to turn on the shower and wait a couple minutes before it gets hot but it wasn't a problem for me. ||||The room is spacious, the bathroom is very colorful. The hotel is open to the courtyard so you can hear outside traffic but you will hear it everywhere you stay since the roads are cobblestone and can hear the cars/motorcycles and tuk-tuks driving around. The rooms can get stuffy during the day but opening the windows to the room and letting the fresh air in will help. They do not have air conditioning but every night/morning gets chilly to where you won't need one. ||||I gave them 5 stars because they deserve it. It was a hotel that gave you the Guatemalan culture and feels. It was not something you would get in the States but it's expected since you're in a different country. I would 100% stay here again and recommend...
Read moreAt first we weren't sure about this little hotel as they are in a state of upgrading & it's a bit old... but pretty much everything is in Antigua! So we gave it a chance... everything was sufficient enough & quite clean. But what makes the place is the owners & staff!||||Jose is over the top welcoming & will do anything to help you.||||Matteo was always at the door or in the courtyard to keep watch & help at any time, day or night, it seemed!||||Then there was the breakfast! Holy smokes. ||They did two beautiful sit down meals for us that were delicious & filling... omelets, plantains, beans, fruit, bread, butter/jam, coffee, juice, oatmeal....hot & ready at the exact time we requested it.||||This hotel is also very close to La Merced Church, the famous Arch & "California Tacos" which I love!||||||There 'are' some noise issues occasionally as all the rooms face the courtyard (&/or street) & have thin windows, but this is also a common issue in Antigua.||||You may have to ask for assistance with getting the hot water just right... for us it was fine since it was quite warm & humid, so a hot shower wasn't what I wanted anyhow.||||If you need a posh stay/location... this is not the place... I have some recommendations for that. But if you're on a budget & there to shop till u drop & sight see all day & you just need a safe, friendly & cozy place to call home while you're visiting... give...
