After touring Antigua we were ready to quench our thirsts. We made our way to Fridas, a Mexican restaurant which was a top choice by Tripadvisor, Lonely Planet, Fodors and more. Dedicated to the infamous artist, Frida Kahl, this brightly colored and ever-busy bar-restaurant was the perfect resting spot for our lively group. I tried our first Gallo cerveza which is a Guatemalan National beer. Fridas is also known for having the best margaritas and Mezcal drinks in town so Ron ordered the house margarita. It came in a giant mug filled with a double margarita and you get to keep the mug. After a few beers and the giant margarita we were brave enough to order a Mezcal shot served with crispy crickets as a chaser. We later returned for dinner for some of the best tacos and guacamole in town.

We’ve been coming here for more than 12-15 Years, and it only gets better every time. Our latest visit was extremely pleasant, we had the Tortilla Soup, Chicken Quesadilla and Aguachile Picosito, paired with super cold Micheladas. Denis and Fredy both of our waiters were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The food, music, decor, location make us come back every time. Other Recommendations, Burritos, Tacos al Pastor, Ta con Frida, Nachos Supremo & Ceviche de Camaron just to mention a few. If you leave nearby or staying in Antigua for a few days you can also order online. Definitely coming back soon. If you are wanting amazing Mexican food go here!! My friend and I were absolutely starving after working 14+ hours at the clinic. This restaurant did not disappoint, you might need to know basic Spanish to get around, however our server spoke English. I got the enchiladas with a side of beans and rice. The water does cost money, they gave us each a bottle. The enchiladas were absolutely delicious and enough to not buy another meal. The place was decorated very cutely and can be a romantic setting. We went at night and was reeeeaaly loud that was the reason for the 4 stars on atmosphere. I felt that I had to shout in order to be heard.

We had a delicious lunch here. Tacos Gobernador (with shrimp, beans, cheese, chipotle mayo, and avocado) for me and Tacos al Pescado Rebozado (beer-battered fish tacos ) for my husband. Very tasty, good service. Perhaps a little slow to get our food. Will return some evening to try the margaritas. Update: Went for dinner last night. Great margarita, good posole, excellent fajitas lomitos with a mix of tasty grilled veggies, not just peppers and onions (with the caveat that a sizzle plate to keep them hot would have made them even better). Kudos to them for going straw-less.

I loved the interiors and the vibe of Frida! This restaurant is themed for the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo with colorful paintings in her honor and vibrant walls and graphics throughout. The bar sits just inside the entrance along the street so you’re able to people watch as you have a drink or snacks. While they have an extensive bar they are best known for the selection of mezcals and mezcal cocktails. If you find one you like you may be able to purchase it from their shop as they have a few brands available. we only had drinks here so cant comment on the food.
