I was a little disappointed when I saw how tiny our room for 3 people was. It had a double bed and a twin and a tv and not much room for anything else. There is 1 bathroom and shower for 5 rooms upstairs. There was no TP in there when we first got there, and they supplied it pretty quickly. The shower curtain does not go all the way to the floor, so the floor gets wet. See my video. The double bed was old, it sagged in the middle, and my wife and i found ourselves constantly rolling into each other. The sheets were clean, so that is a plus. The internet was ok. The terrace has beautiful views of the volcanoes and la merced. The terrace was the highlight of my stay. My wife and I didn't sleep very well because of the bed. It was very quiet, though. Loved that. The staff was very helpful and informative. I forgot toothpaste, and they did not have anything at the front desk. The breakfast was a good tipic breakfast. Eggs made to order, beans, and fried plantains. My wife and i have pretty strict diets, so i asked if they could hard boil my eggs, and they were able to do that, i realize that is a bit inconvenient for them but they were able to accommodate my special request. The location is really great, nearby everything. I paid 87 USD for 1 night for this room. I have stayed in a few hotels in Antigua, and this is definitely at the bottom of my list. Last year, i stayed in a much nicer place near the Arch and only paid 65 USD. And the room had its own bathroom. I really like staying in these old colonial buildings. They have a lot of character, but this one leaves a lot...
Read moreWe booked 3 rooms using credit card miles. When we showed up to check in, the concierge told us that the software had somehow messed up and booked the same room three times for the same night and that they had no comparable rooms available, so we would have to pay an additional $40/room to cover what they did have available. Our confirmation clearly showed that three rooms were booked and would be assigned at check-in. They took no responsibility for their “mistake” and would not consider a refund. My husband was on the phone with management for over 30 minutes trying to resolve the issue before we called our credit card company, who had a similar experience. It’s a beautiful hotel, but the city is full of beautiful hotels that aren’t trying to scam their guests. We’ll choose another...
Read moreI stayed there in February 2025 and it was not good. The first room they put me in (#5) was a shoe box with no place to put clothes or suitcase....had to put it on the floor. They kindly moved me the next day to a bigger room which was better. But, when I laid down to sleep, the pillow stank as well as the mattress. The sheets were clean but the mattress and the pillow smelt of cigarettes and not sure what else it was. The internet was not working. I asked the guy at the front desk (in spanish) but he just shrugged his shoulders. I work in Guatemala and usually stay at the Posada San Sebastian but it was occupied the entire month. I was there for three nights and never saw another guest...
