This is a very clever and interesting use of an older building, modernized to today’s standards and with today’s amenities! It is basically a studio apartment with an upstairs loft bed space, with a queen/full/double mattress on the carpeted floor. The kitchen is galley style with a breakfast bar table, a desk and chair and a three person sofa. The walls and ceilings are vaulted, convex brick which give the apartment not only charm, but incredible soundproofing. The bathroom is, again, interesting as there is no shower door or curtain, but the shower head is also free from a holder and is draped over the spigot 🚰. It’s a very clever way to conserve water, because you have to turn off the water to use both hands while showering. 🧼 🙌🏼 🚿 The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly; our housekeeper (name redacted) was very thorough and knew me by name before we checked in. She let us drop the luggage 🧳 inside the apartment while the cleaning was still being done and then we proceeded to discover the city of Budapest. The only issue we had is someone from another apartment in the building locked the common gate door in error and we could not exit the apartment. Management immediately rectified the issue, twice in one night by their admission, and it was sorted in less than 45mins. Excellent customer service! We honestly could live permanently in an apartment like this as it was spacious, efficient, ergonomic and definitely a great value in cost. Highly...
Read moreStayed for 3 nights with my partner. On arrival we accidentally went to the Lavender Circus Hostel across town, as these apartments were fairly new developments and had not yet been recognised on Google Maps. However, the host at the hosel greeted us with free Palinka (homemade Hungarian alcohol) and paid for our taxi to the right location. The other host met us at the apartments and showed us how to gain entry to the building. There apartments are up about 2 flights of steps of a big city apartment block and the front door and gate has good security with a code. ||Once inside, we were given advice on where to eat/drink and good tourist locations. We paid in cash on arrival in Forints, probably the best way to pay. ||The apartment itself has a sink and fridge, a nice bathroom, and a bed which is raised in a separate compartment. The whole room is sort of open-plan, very quirky and different, but was a great experience and exactly what we want when visiting a different country. Bed was comfy.||Location is as good as you can get in Budapest. Yes you have to walk a bit to the main tourist locations, but the apartments provided a good 'home' for our stay. The value of this apartment was fantastic, Budapest is very cheap but this does not affect the quality whatsoever. ||I would highly recommend this apartment, the hosts were very welcoming and friendly, they deserve great custom instead of big...
Read morePros: A very good place to stay in terms of price and performance. Location is very central and the apartment is nicely decorated. Also, the apartment has 2 small desks so you can work while staying there (not the most comfortable ones though)
Cons: The toilet smells slightly bad but there is ventilation to help with that. I also recommend owners to renew the bed sheets and pillow cases once in a while. It was used a lot and not soft. The payment method was a little interesting. You place cash money into the envelope and leave it in the post box, which didn’t feel...
