I am reposting this as the owner rudely taken down my previous review but I will not stop until this hostel is closed and no one stays here as I wouldn’t want anyone to experience what I did. What a terrible stay I experienced at this hostel. I would do anything to not stay another night in this hostel. To begin the lift was unsafe and moved up and down with the doors still open, although this major safety concern was casually brushed off by the hotel worker. To add to the safety concerns the fire doors would be unsafe in event of a fire as the fire door would not open unless a certain technique was used. This concern was once again brushed off by the worker who told us that it would be fixed tomorrow, but that is irrelevant. The stay however was absolutely terrible. To begin the night we found that the extension cables were linked together like Christmas lights, which is a big big fire hazard, and I think the owner should check his facts before attacking one of his guests about his previous claim in their review, which was once again deleted. Futhermore when I was in the hallway I was rudely told to be quiet by a drunk guest, which I think is simply unacceptable around school children. The showers smelt terrible which the owner claims to be a common thing, although I haven’t experienced it at the other hotels I’ve stayed at in Iceland, my towel also disappeared so I think the owner must have stolen it as some kind of practical joke. To top of my stay I was disgusted to find the owner unblocking the sink with his hands, to which he then used to open up the bread for breakfast. This I’m sure would not be done at any other hostel is absolutely grim. a place like this must be closed...

I stayed female room with nice lady's . I travel alone .it was clean room and check in lady was nice and polite. The floors were very clean and you need to bring your own slippers as the boots aren't use in the room . Kitchen is big lot of tables and chairs. You need to buy your own food to cook. But the kitchen has all you need they have free coffee and tea there and spices but no oil. I eat outside usually to get Iceland food. The food shop is 5-10 Min walk straight down the church. The check in uses codes there's no key cards. Other people.in the hostel were quiet and polite. Good price. Only problem is the suitcase it had to be carried through ice road and up the hill and it's very hard the don't clean the roads . So it's hard to get the suitcase to Carrie that for the women who's suitcase is heavy. Bus stop with tours or airport bus is bus stop 8. The hostel is brown colour and little church tower on top the house it's straight behind the hallgrin church if you front of it it's the left side. I made mistake getting lost its like 5 Min walk behind the church with suitcase it's 15 Min walk. I'm women aloune and I felt safe in the hostel they had lot of toilets and showers. The suitcase and your bag you keep on your room. I feel safe with my stay and it was warm when you put heating on bring warm sleeping clothes if you don't want heating of it's shared with your room mates but make heating the room fast and easy. I loved my stay and will be happy to stay...

The hostel was clean and warm, the rooms were well laid out, with a safe for each person. It's such an odd looking building, but that's definitely part of the charm! The large kitchen/common area looks cool both from within and from the street looking up at it: the huge windows, and the warm coloured, up-lit walls make it so cosy!||The hostel is spitting distance from Hallgrimskirkja, you can see it from the common room windows. This means you're in the heart of the city - great if you have no transport! It does mean you're in the heart of the tourist traps too... so any shop nearby (with the exception of Kronan stores) will be more expensive than those further afield.||The staff leave you to do your own thing, the cleaners are all super friendly, the showers are always hot, and in decent condition. It really exceeded my expectations. ||I might have wished for an onsite bar or cafe for socializing, but everything is so expensive in Iceland that I was glad of the lack of temptation! And if you do need that sort of diversion, the B47 Hostel, which occupies the lower floors of the same building, has something like that. I'm sure it would have been...

I had a wonderful experience at Baron Hostel in Reykjavik. The location was perfect, close to many attractions and easy to get around the city, even close to the pick up bus stop for tour trips. The cleanliness of the hostel really stood out—everything was well-maintained and spotless. I also appreciated the level of comfort in the rooms, which were cozy and well-equipped. Having an elevator was a great convenience, especially after long days of exploring. I like the rooms that come with large window, my room was on the 4th floor, overlooking Hillgrimskirkja and Perlan (super love for this). The staff were incredibly helpful even though not so friendly, always ready to assist with any questions or recommendations. Highly recommend this hostel for anyone visiting Reykjavik, especially solo female traveller!

Great location!Close to the center including the church (we had a room with church view). Free parking was a bonus, too! Our room was spacious and clean. Nice kitchen/lounge/dining area, which some guests leave whatever they did not need any more, such as leftover packs of soup, pasta, etc. Varieties of spices were available for cooking. Shower rooms were clean but did not have much space to hang our clothes, shampoo, conditioner, etc. I forgot to leave our gas canister and ended up throwing away at the airport. Somebody could have made a good use of it. Some reviewers said that staff was very friendly but I did not feel so. He was not bad, but I did not feel to ask some questions.

This was our home base during our stop in Reykjavík. The hostel offers budget-friendly accommodations in a prime location, just a 5-minute walk from Hallgrímskirkja. That said, the building itself feels pretty dated. The long hallways look straight out of a hospital, and the elevator was the creepiest part of all. It was huge, big enough to fit hospital beds, which only convinced me even more that this place used to be a hospital (lol). Still, for a short 1-2 night stay, it was a decent option, with clean bathrooms, plenty of shower areas, and a spacious communal kitchen with massive windows perfect for northern lights viewing!
