Clean and in an great location 7 min walk to the church, but the giant sign on the building is totally wrong and needs to be changed--I walked right by it! Room is small but spacious enough to not feel claustrophobia. A bigger trash can is desperately needed. Expedia sent me info 48 hours before check-in, which I had no idea how important they were and never opened it. Apparently you get the door codes and wifi, which is crucial because THERE IS NO ON-SITE STAFF! My local SIM didnt work and I hit the doorbell unsuccessfully, couldn't connect to their wifi, and didnt see any guests from the windows. Nearly had a panic attack not knowing how to get in. Caught wifi across the street somehow and found the email with the codes. I hate that the owners dont accept phone messages so all you can do is email and wait. The door code is so complicated to put in as the keypad doesn't always register touch (with a beep), resulting in several wrong attempts. Eventually they block you and make a loud alarm! TOTALLY UNNEVERVING! I locked my stuff in the room and got locked out trying to put my pin in unsuccessfully. They need explicit instructions about this keypad or better yet, REPLACE THEM. I got the locked out alarm at each accommodation I booked with this exact keypad. The email should also explain "luggage storage" is an unmanned room with no camera (the fridge room). This would've prevented me from leaving my bags in the room before check-in and getting them locked inside. They should have a locked room for this and a camera inside or facing it.
I like that my room has a sink (and small mirror)...but where is the hand soap? Wifi was great, room was room temp. Very quiet and peaceful but no opportunity to meet other travelers. One of the bathrooms on the main floor has a toilet seat that is broken in half. Imagine getting your butt cheek stuck in that! OW. Also, both showers on this floor have no shelves to put your bath products and were super confusing to use! Instructions also needed. Toilet paper is as hard as possible--if you're female it will feel awful to use! Everywhere in Iceland seems to buy this very rough tp. Bfast not included.
My stay was good but the hiccups at the start and the lack of upkeep for a guesthouse without a front desk brings the rating down to a 3.3. Many improvements to be made at the cost they...
Read moreThe single room was spacious but there were some weird things about my stay here.
I was told in writing that there is laundry guests can use, but in reality, the laundry machines are in a room behind a door that says “Staff Only” on it. Also, when I checked inside the room, every single washer dryer, including the small ones that I was supposed to be able to use, were full of linens/sheets. The water coming out of the faucet in the bedroom and the bathroom on the lowest floor smelled strongly of sulfur (like what the geothermal areas smell like.) It also gave the hallway a faint unpleasant odor. there isn’t a toilet paper holder in the bathroom. I just thought this was a...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at Floki Guesthouse in Reykjavik. Several issues made my stay quite unpleasant:
The shower was broken and unusable. The invoice did not include the address, even though I specifically requested this at the time of booking. The customer support was terrible. Despite multiple requests for a correct invoice with the address, I was told it was not possible. Marija Naumoska, in particular, was unhelpful and incompetent. The check-in code provided did not work. The room is located on a very busy street, making it extremely noisy throughout the entire night.
Overall, I cannot recommend this guesthouse due to these...
