Til: weird experience first night didn’t get to order on a not so busy Monday evening, then normal experience the next night. Just okay overall and I’ll chalk things up to bad communication.

Can’t judge the food but service was not just bad, it didn’t make any logical sense - they wouldn’t take my order at 8:30 on a Monday when they are closing at 11. Seems they were somehow so far behind on orders (how’s that even possible?) and we were told it would be “too long”. Mind you this is just a chips place that also serves food so I felt completely blindsided.

Would have gladly enjoyed waiting 15 to even 30 minutes with a beer but I guess not meant to be.

Edit: apparently robots humans to this owner which goes against all human logic once more and also against customers. No customer would say oh okay let me order on the self service then...?

Edit2: Really don’t like judging people on seemingly one off weird experiences. Totally normal experience this time around literally one day later. Seemed just about the same level of business also. Food was solid but didn’t really wow me in any way. Good affordable option for...

Customer service needs a lot of work. We arrived about 35 mins before it was due to close, the guy told us this which is fine but then asked if we wanted to eat in or take out as we had the option we said we’ll eat in and be quick. He then gave us a funny look, paused and told us there wasn’t enough time to eat in because he’d have to cook the chips (they’re already premade, they do not take long to fry) at this point we decided to leave. If he had said when we arrived it was takeaway only that would be fine but the fact he gave us the option to eat in to start with is where it went wrong, and secondly I’ve cooked chips many times and the time it took to have that conversation they would’ve been done

We ended up going to a pizza place down the road and from walking there, ordering, cooking pizzas and them being on the table we had out food before the chip place closed with time to spare. Seemed to me the guy couldn’t...

We had an amazing time dining at this restaurant with my family. The service was excellent, and the food was simply delicious. I ordered the fish and chips, regular fries, and sweet potato fries. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the fries were crispy and golden brown. I also tried the Oh-Reo shake, which was a delightful treat. The Graslauks sauce was another standout, and I highly recommend it. I experimented with a few other sauces, but the Graslauks sauce was my favorite. I’m already planning to return to Iceland when I get the chance, and I’ll definitely make sure to stop by this restaurant again. Thank you to the entire team for making our dining experience...

As an American I’m probably not the best fish and chips connoisseur, but Reykjavík Chips has been a top-4 fish and chips I've ever had. Period. I’ve had fish and chips in London and in southern Portugal and Japan and at several places smattered throughout the USA (New England, Pac NW consistently have solid F&C). But this place… My GF got F&C with the pickle dipping sauce and I got F&C with the garlic dipping sauce. And while both sauces were great, the fish by itself with just a squeeze of lemon was all it needed. It was light and flakey and the breading was 🤌🏼 chef’s kiss. If I lived here I’d have a difficult time not getting it daily. 4.4/5 would HIGHLY recommend.

This place is great and in one visit is made itself a must do in Reykjavik for me. The laid back and effortless atmosphere, the down tempo music adding to that ambiance and les I forget, the amazing chips, or fries. If you’re the type to go in search of places like this when you travel, do yourself a favor and come here. While their regular fries are great, it’s the sweet potato fries that steak the show. They’re damn good, and the sauces are great as well. Seriously try the Chives sauce, it’s the owners favorite for a reason. The spot is close to a lot of other places of interest and the tattoo shop where I got mine so really consider stopping by.
