Just finished a 4 day stay at this hotel and absolutley loved it and was well worth the money.
Great location, friendly staff and decent modern room.
Breakfast has plenty of variety.
After reading some of the negative reviews I didn't really know what to expect but I was happy with everything. Ive stayed at many 3* hotels and this was probably the best. I can only imagine the people leaving negative reviews are the kind of people trying to live the champagne lifestyle on a beer budget as I'm fussy but I couldn't fault this place. Also noticed some reviews stating that they had trouble getting their room cleaned well I had the opposite. I left the sign on the door which told the cleaner do not disturb but as we left for the morning we bumped into the cleaner who was insistent on cleaning the room but I just kept saying no and I had an endless supply of towels.
Rooms are really nice and the hotel provides all the extras like free tea, coffee and sugar for kettle facilities in the room and face wipes, bodywash and a hairdryer in the bathroom.
I booked direct through their website and as you don't have to pay until you get there I made a reservation and then a few weeks later I checked again and they had a 20% winter sale so i cancelled my original reservation and made another so I got £120 knocked off the price.
This hotel is round the corner from the bus terminal which worked in our favour as we seemed to be the first pick up and first drop off on all the trips we went on and we booked through several companies.
I would stay at this hotel again based on the rooms and service from the...
Read moreThe rooms are basic but very clean. I didn't like the bathroom, it was quite cramped (you could easily touch opposite walls with your hands) with a combined shower in one corner. When you had a shower the whole floor became wet. The shower drain also had a bad odour after a shower.
The bar wasn't open while we were there but you could purchase bottles of alcohol and soft drinks from reception and consume them in the bar area.
The hotel is situated central enough and has a bus terminal within 150 meters which has plenty of bus routes. There are many restaurants and bars close by. Our favourite bar was called Lebowski which also does food but that's about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel has no parking but we parked directly outside the hotel at a cost of over €5 per hour, thankfully we only needed two hours. 6pm - 9am is free.
My big gripe is with the reception staff. Only one of the three we dealt with was pleasant. The female receptionist greeted us when we returned and gave us some ice for our drinks. The two make receptionists went out of their way to look busy rather than say hello. Interestingly both of them sat at the front desk with...
Read moreWe had booked this hotel on Booking and it was advertised as free parking (no reservation required). The main reason we booked this hotel was because of the parking for our vehicle. The first night was fine & we were able to park behind the hotel, (quite tight spaces). However, coming back on the second night, there were no spaces ! The hotel only has about 15spaces if that and not enough for all the guests. There weren't even spaces available in the paid area outfront, and we had to park 10 minutes away. After a long day on the road, we just wanted to park at our hotel as advertised & not mess about finding a space. The hotel doesn't require your vehicle registration, so it's not monitored, so anyone can park there. I think it should be changed to free parking but a reservation is required as it gives the impression there is space for everyone when there isn't!!
The hotel overall was OK, quite a small bathroom but it was very clean. We were facing a playground, and fireworks were let off in the middle of the day. I know the hotel can not control this, but it was pretty loud !
Good location to the main strip in Reykjavik. I would recommend 2Guys burgers...
