A cozy, dog friendly spot for beer lovers and a great place to sample Iceland’s growing craft beer scene. Tucked away in the city center, it has a laid-back, slightly quirky atmosphere that makes it feel welcoming whether you’re dropping in alone, with friends, or before heading out for the night.
The highlight here is the selection. They offer a rotating lineup of Icelandic craft beers alongside international brews, and the tasting flights are especially popular if you want to try several styles without committing to a full pint. Staff are generally knowledgeable and happy to recommend beers based on your taste, which makes it approachable even if you’re new to craft beer.
Prices, as expected in Iceland, are on the higher side, but that’s the norm everywhere in Reykjavík. What you get in return is variety and the chance to try local brews that can be hard to find elsewhere. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, with enough character to keep it interesting without feeling too busy or overwhelming.
The space itself is on the smaller side, so it can fill up quickly, especially on weekends or evenings when beer enthusiasts flock here. Seating can be limited, so arriving earlier is a good idea if you want a table.
Overall, Micro Bar is a solid choice for anyone curious about Icelandic beer culture. It’s not the cheapest night out, but the variety, relaxed vibe, and central location make it one of the better spots in Reykjavík for a drink that feels both local...
Read moreBeer was good but the service was horrific. Like dude, you work as a bartender who serves local micro brews why so miserable? Bartender fought us on our choice to do 2 5 samplers. Yes we know it's more expensive but we have different tastes. He raised his eyebrows several times in disbelief like "ok whatever but your wrong". I am definetly spoiled. In Boston when something is "micro" it means they started a business and worked hard and proud of the product. Family's started making beers and put everything they have to make it work for the passion of it. Only then to be served your product by a useless lifeless miserable person.... Makes your beer less desirable change your name. Just be named Bar if your going to a angrily put liquid in a glass. Why so mad at a local product? Wow. By the way there was another decent human being working that night who was worth a pay check. To bad we...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our time in Reykjavik, made all the better by spending a few hours in this great little bar. We discovered some fantastic new beers and met some amazing people too! If Linda and Chris from Alabama read this, there was obviously a mix up and we still owe you guys a beer! We went back and saw the New Year in from the warmth of this bar, the sky lit up with fireworks at midnight, never seen anything like it! Hopefully we'll be back one day, and Microbar Reykjavik will be the first bar we head to. And if that gorgeous Vanilla Porter is still around, that will be the one for me please! Cheers, Nick and...
