Hotel Modern — Hotel in Mumbai

I would actually rate this 3.5/5 but can't work out how to. We came across this hotel by accident and were surprised at how nice it was (we were moved here as our previous hotel was so bad).||||The rooms were nice, spacious and clean. ||||The location of this hotel was perfect, right by CST (the main train station & tourist spot) and half hour walk from the Gateway to India which also leads to the Elephanta Caves.||||The downside was that there was no restaurant (but you could get food by room service) they spoke very little English & you can't pay by card (unless you go to their sister hotel 10 mins away), which in the middle of India's financial issues at the moment wasn't great.||||The staff however are very friendly & couldn't do enough for you and they smiled a lot.||||Just be aware to ask for a room at least a floor up from reception, we had room 302 which was more modern than those on the...

While booking, the hotel looked good, also when you enter the hotel it looks very fancy, but when you enter the rooms that is when you see the real picture. The rooms are very bad, with curtains falling, paint chipping off, looks very shady. Also the service was very bad, the person sitting at the reception was very rude. In the morning when I went and asked for few bottles of drinking water, they told me to get it from outside. Also there is no car parking for this hotel.
