As the experience I had at this hotel three months back was so good, I decided to come back. But the second visit was unfortunently nothing but unpleasent.
We came to stay two nights and experienced the manager / receptionist as rude, disrespectful and not service oriented at all. We experienced being laughed at in front of other guests and staff, as well as we got talked about in hindi right in front of us, as if we weren't present. This happened when we asked if they had a refrigirator we could use and if not, then the possibility to buy ice. And when asking for access to the outside area, (the rooftop or the balcony). Which we were indeed denied acces to even though it's advertised as included in your stay. When asking for an explanation as to why we couldn't use the outside area he got really angry and ordered us multiple times to go to our room without any explanation. Even though there might be the possible cultural differences, it did not make us feel welcome or respected, and is something that we have not experienced before during our three months travel in India.
The room we got had no windows, no ventilation, but was exeptionally sanitary. The staff is generally friendly and observant, but I have rarely met a hotel manager/ receptionist with so little hospitality and solution orientation. He seemed the happiest if he did not get disturbed, and he could sit with his headphones on, not having to deal with guests or their inquiries.
I will not be coming back to the City Hotel, and can not recommend anyone booking...
Read moreIts a budget hotel located at Fort, Mumbai around 1 km south of Mumbai CST station. I booked the standard room online through make my trip for around Rs 3500 for 2 nights. We were 2 people.
PROS- Complimentary breakfast from 8 to 10 am.. 1 veg item and 1 non veg item mostly omlette. Dont expect much! Good location. Its located very close to Gateway of India and other tourist points. Good markets and restaurants around.. Hot water facility.
CONS- The room for 2 people is small as a rat hole!! Hardly any place to walk.. The bed provided was very small. It could hardly accommodate both of us. Very bad experience at night!! The toilet seat was broken and the shower was not working!! Service was not that great. We had to call the reception again and again so that we could get our complimentary tea bags and sugar and dairy sachets.. The hotel from inside is very congested.. No Lift and stairs are so tall i felt like climbing a mountain.. No Wi-fi. Bad room service. We had to specially tell them to clean our rooms. Highly over priced food options. We had ordered 3 cups of tea as it was not mentioned on menu. Still they provided us tea but charged Rs 50 for each cup making it 150 rs in total. Plus the tea was very bad... Very noisy corridors!! We cudnt sleep whole night coz the staff were quite loud and banging doors. The partitions between rooms also is very thin. You can hear whats happening...
