Nanumal Bhojraj Fort — Restaurant in Mumbai

Visited Nanumal Bhojraj (नानुमल भोजराज), 315, Shahid Bhagat Singh Rd, Ballard Estate, Fort, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400001 on 2nd September 2025 for lunch. I was in Colaba for a meeting and wasn’t sure where to eat, so I just searched “restaurants near me” and came across this place. Turns out it’s a very famous and old restaurant — and now I understand why!

What we ordered (3 people):

Paneer Tikka Masala Butter Roti Baingan Bharta with Bajre ki Roti Chaas Special Thali

The food was absolutely amazing — rich, flavourful, and very homely. The wait time was literally so less, which made the experience even better.

Seating options: They have two sections — ground floor (non-AC) and first floor (AC). Both looked comfortable, depending on what you prefer.

Ambience & Vibe: Classic, no-frills restaurant feel with quick service and hearty food. A perfect spot for family meals, groups, or even couples who enjoy traditional Indian cuisine.

Parking: Since it’s right on the main road, parking might be a bit tricky. Best to come walking if you’re nearby, or just take a taxi.

I recently dined at Manumal Bhojraj in the Fort area, and I was impressed with the overall experience!

Here are the highlights:

Delicious food: The taste and quality of the dishes were exceptional! Calm environment: The ambiance was peaceful and relaxing, perfect for a meal. Good service: The staff were attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service. Cleanliness: The restaurant, including the washrooms, was spotless!

The only drawback was that the prices were a bit steep, making it a slightly expensive option.

Will I...

This is an exceptionally wonderful eating place in its category. Though it serves a la carte menu, it is more famous for its thali. It has two variant of thali and both are wonderful wrt to taste and dishes. In other restaurants, I Generally, do not prefer thalis as many dishes in it do not taste that good and are wasted. But at Nanumal Bhojraj it is totally different.

If you are going as a group of 2 or 3 people you should definitely try it's chaas that comes in the goti soda glass bottle. The seasonal sweet dishes / desserts are also a must try.
