Did a lovely cooking class here with Neema. Food was great, however a few criticisms. We are 2 food lovers, former chef, been to 50 countries, and cooked in 5. We expected more of a kitchen, teach and do experience. Unfortunately we were grouped with other customers who had allergies to everything and so our menu was quite downplayed. I feel Neema should have given that group a private class or at least told us before booking. I wanted to learn breads, meat curries and dessert but all were not shown. Also sadly, it was not really a cooking class, as all items were precooked, chopped & measured so all you did was throw them in the pan under Neema supervision. There were only 2 burners so you had to sit and watch someone stir their pot and wait for your dish to cook. Quite boring. The ambience of the house is stunning. You get a home tour and meet the family. Excellent presentation of food and dining experience, but wish the class was different. Also need more steps to reach the hot pots which are high for anyone under 5'5".

Heritage indeed! I always seek out women-owned businesses whenever possible, and Neema’s homestay is truly a gem in Kochi. The host and her family are incredibly warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The house itself is a masterpiece—a beautifully preserved example of Dutch-style architecture with over five generations of history. Every wooden detail is impeccable, exuding charm and authenticity. Freshly made delicious Indian breakfast and we also had to experience the (also kid-friendly) cooking class. An unforgettable and delicious experience! Thank you Neema & family

We arrived to a wonderful welcome at Neema’s beautiful home. It is an amazing experience and the room was beautiful with everything you would need , we had a great night’s sleep. The breakfast was delicious and fresh. If you stay here you must do the cooking lessons, it is such a fun experience and very informative. The dishes are delicious. We will be back here again, it is a fabulous place to stay.

I contacted Neema last year to enquire about her cooking course. I had various questions as we are a diverse group that included a wheelchair user, someone recovering from shoulder surgery and a picky eater! She replied immediately and assured me that she could accommodate us. As we were on a cruise we were mindful of timings and she worked around our schedule. ||The menu that we were given to cook was amazing. However, when we saw that we were cooking vindaloo we were apprehensive as this dish in the UK is so hot that we find it unpalatable. She assured us that once we had the cooked the Kerala version we’d change our minds. She was not wrong. Even our picky eater ate some. In total we cooked 6 dishes between us and we all enjoyed every single one. The flavours were nothing like you taste in a takeaway in the UK. ||I purchased one of Neemas aprons as they’re just so gorgeous and everyone purchased her secret masala spice (which is kept in a locked cabinet 🤣) ||We also met her husband who was just as lovely as Neema and made us all feel so very welcome in their stunning home. ||I wish we’d been able to stay at her bungalow but we were only in Cochin for a short time. There was a feeling of total peace and serenity there. ||Today I’m cooking 2 of her dishes for dinner. I can’t wait to start on them. ||Thanks again...

Sofern man selbst Zeit mitbringt, serviert Neema ein original keralesisches Frühstück, welches u. a.

Neema’s Bungalow Heritage Homestay is truly special, exceptional. Neema and her husband Francis, welcomed us with such warmth. The house is tenderly cared for and immaculate; Neema’s cooking is SO delicious. Our room was pretty and quiet, with AC and lovely light. This homestay is carbon negative! Solar powered, filtered safe drinking water (no plastic)! We loved staying on Vypin Island, a few minutes walk to the 3 rupee ferry to Fort. Exploring Vypin is also quite interesting and away from the more touristic Fort. Neema connected us with an expert guide who took us to places we never would have been able to see focused on the Jewish history of the region, but including the first Church in India, and the palatial house once owned by a local matrilineal dynasty, and ended in lunch by the Arabian Sea at Chennai Beach, where we had a lovely swim. The tour was highlighted in Neema’s helpful guest guidebook, otherwise we never would have found out about it.

We loved Neema’s cooking so much we arranged for her to make dinner for us. Five exquisitely prepared dishes.

Neema and Francis helped us plan details of the next step of our trip. We weren’t planning on it, but we loved it so much that decided to return for one more night before...
