What a fun, artsy, funky wonderful place! Art, crafts, plants, wonderful food vendors... there's a really cool dome type place that has seating inside and a porch type thing around the top that you can walk or sit on - they hold live talks in there & I believe occasional live music as well. Outside near the food there are benches that are a circle shape so you can easily see your friends while you eat, and some of them are set into the ground (so your butt is at ground level, but your feet are hanging down like they would because they dug a hole and set the round bench in there - it's very cool). Even their bathrooms are super cool (!!) because each stall has its own toilet and sink and a clear glass wall the abuts a garden so you can see all these wonderful plants while you're going to the bathroom! (no, there are no people walking around that garden while you're going to the bathroom, haha, it's closed off to the public and only for the bathroom, it's beautiful!). All around the outside of this yard are endless shops, bakeries, crafts, homestays or Inns, restaurants, and more. This place is a fabulous place to go - give yourself plenty of time to check out tons of cool stuff! Perfect place to buy things to bring home because there are lots of ships with handmade crafts, clothes, handbags, decorations, jewelry, eyc. As I always mention in my reviews when relevant, going here supports small, local, independently...

From Calicut, Cabral and his fleet reached Kochi. He was welcomed by the King of Kochi. A treaty was drafted between Cabral and the King of Kochi wherein the latter gave consent to the Portuguese to establish their base in Kochi. The Portuguese were allowed to establish their factory for spice trade in Kochi.
Kochi became the first European colonial settlement with a Portuguese fort in India.
At present Cabral Yard is one of the venues of the Kochi-Muziris...
