Visited Kafe D Kochi (part of the Eat Kochi group) with high hopes, but left with a bitter experience. We were recommended a seafood combo for 4 people which included a fish (under 1kg) split and cooked in two styles – one half tawa-fried, the other as pollichathu – along with some butter garlic shrimp and a few pieces of golden fried calamari. It also included 2 small bowls of chicken fried rice with chicken rarely to be found. We were told the price would depend on the fish's weight, and we reasonably expected it to be in the ₹1500–₹2500 range.
To our shock, the final bill for just this combo came to ₹4400! While the food was undeniably tasty and the ambience had potential, nothing about the experience justified this kind of pricing. They don’t even have a washroom for guests – a basic expectation for any dine-in place. Street cats roamed freely under the tables, even scratching our legs trying to snatch leftovers.
Be warned: if you’re ever offered a combo “based on weight,” ask for the exact pricing upfront or risk getting unpleasantly surprised.
A great-tasting meal turned into a disappointing and overpriced outing. Sadly, won’t...
Read moreI am giving 5 stars given the area and how they have maintained the environment. It is a street side place with enough, clean seating area. Very courteous staff and food is prepared to your likes. We ordered the sea food platter which came with 4 porottas, fried rice, chemmeen roast, koonthal fry (your choice on how to prepare), and a dish fry (half fry and half pollichathu). It was more than enough for three people which generally costs Rs 1400. We upgraded the Tilapia fry with White Pomphret and that cost us another Rs 600. I would say the cost was OK for the quality and quantity. We also ordered a Pizza which only cost Rs 420 - half the price when compared to other pizza places. Very courteous staff - no push to sell more costly fish or more food. Unbelievably great experience....
Read moreA street joint with multiple in house resaturants, eatKOCHI is a wonderful place to try out. We sat in the Pizza Italia zone, but had variety of food items, considering menu was a mix menu from many restaurants there, including Pizza Italia, Salt and Pepper, etc.
We ordered, Dal Tadka, Jeera Rice, Plain Rice, Chocolate Coconut cake, Biryani, Raita, Cold Coffee, Mango Mohito, Lime water, Mix Veg, Garlic Chapati. Our non veg lovers, had a few non veg items as well.
All items were good and reasonable, and service was fast.
Chocolate Coconut cake tasted great, but was usual chocolate cake with chocolate syrup, and shredded coconut on top. Garlic roti, was a different items, with not garlic pieces, rather thick garlic paste with butter spread...
