This is supposedly a 4-star hotel. It is built like so. But currently it is in very poor working condition supposedly because of covid shutdown. This is a brutal and honest review because the pictures of the hotel and descriptions are entirely misleading and will lead you to disappointment.
First off, we reached during noon. No one was there to receive our luggage. No welcome drink, which is ok. The reception lobby had no AC on a hot day. The lift was poorly kept, you would find better lifts in 10 year old apartment buildings. The lobby leading to our room had no AC either for entire stay of 3 days.
Coming to the room, it was well kept, okay on the space front. My wife being a cleanliness nut found it a little dirty but it seemed okay to me. Bathroom's health faucet stand was slightly broken. Toiletries standard was very poor, local stuff in a 4-star hotel. There was no mini-fridge in the room. AC unit was provided (no central cooling) but it worked very well - the only saving grace for the entire stay. Iron and ironing board were already present in the room.
One morning, we found a big cockroach dead outside our door. A first.
On the last night, the power went off. For one hour, it kept coming on and then off due to some problem they were trying to fix. No updates about the issue or later apologies were offered. A first in my life.
The reception staff was usually not present at desk. They had no information on how go to Munnar from Kochi. The intercom network was not working in the hotel. You had to call a cell number directly.
Wifi - network was mostly unreachable in our room and for 2 days they stated the network was out completely due to a maintenance problem.
Again, I emphasize this is supposedly a...

On the weekends, there were lots of loud, drunk guests that were shouting in the hallways at 1:30am. We called reception and they didn’t understand because they thought we were complaining about the bar noise (which you luckily cannot hear). Finally they realized which noisy guests we were referring too and they came upstairs to shush the guests. It was very frustrating that they said they could hear these drunken screamers from the lobby but didn’t think to quiet them for other guests.
On the second night, we awoke to a family of rats ravishing the ceiling at 2am. The noise was awful! We did everything to try to scare them away. Reception was helpful and let us change rooms... but they clearly have a rat problem.
The one nice thing about our stay were the morning receptionists- they’re very kind and friendly. The nighttime receptionists were negligent and difficult.
I also loved the cafes and restaurants in the hotel-...
