I had a confusing and bizarre experience here. Positives : it has the premium luxury feel that comes with park royal pan pacific hotels. pool & gym area is nice. Generally staff everywhere are very nice, their passion makes a positive difference. Bed is really cosy.
Negatives : The check in process took a confusingly long time even though I was the only person. There was no welcome or information, it kind of felt like I was checking into a budget hotel, like there's no information if there is a gym, or pool, or spa, is there a restaurant or food options? I have no idea, it's just like here's your keycard bye. (Not a big deal because I can research online when I get to the room) Pan Pacific / Discovery membership has little to no benefits here, I booked hoping there was some as with my top tier Titanium but there was really none. It was disappointing but it's not a huge problem, the reason for the low rating is for a situation that was really problematic during my stay (below)
After I received my keycard I asked if there is any benefits, like do I get a late checkout at least? They responded "yes you can get a late checkout, do you want it?" I said yes I want it, then they said "Okay done your checkout time will be 4pm" Perfect so I have late checkout, but the next day while I am outside after lunchtime I get a text message from Pan Pacific "sorry for the inconvenience but we can't give you a late checkout"
I'm like are you serious? I'm already outside and I have planned my day around the checkout time, and it was confirmed the day before. I thought maybe it was a mistake so ignored it, I went back to the hotel to enjoy my last couple of hours but then my card stops working, I went to the front desk to fix it then they said actually you are past your checkout time you don't have late checkout. You can imagine how angry I was, being told I have late checkout because of my titanium status then on the checkout day being told very late that it was wrong, so after I complained and then they allowed me to continue until 4..
Next issue, while I'm watching TV in bed the room door opens and a housekeeper / staff walks into the room with NO KNOCKING at all, we are just looking at each other very awkwardly with a long silence.. and then she apologises and leaves, like what on earth is going on? I can't believe this is happening. It's like the communication in this hotel is non existent, everything was so messy and I just felt so tense from feeling like I'm getting kicked out. There was zero loyalty and professionalism, worst communication, I wanted to relax during my stay and because of this it was impossible.
I'm okay without a late checkout but I'm not okay with being told I have one then it changing last minute and me having to rearrange everything and then people coming in and out of my room without knocking or ringing the bell. I won't be staying here again when in Jakarta, and if you're with the Pan Pacific group you will be disappointed.
⭐ Highlight of the stay was a staff named Andri, he was very friendly, helpful, attentive, he really made my stay and made me happy, he takes care of the pool gym area. 5...
Read moreUnlock the New Heights in Jakarta!
The very first PARKROYAL brand in Indonesia officially opened on 8 January 2024. I am glad I had a chance to stay at the new heights on the opening date and unlock this new brand coming to Jakarta. Be located in the Thamrin Nine complex at the second tallest tower in Indonesia, namely Luminary Tower.
What makes this property attractive?
The Luminary Tower is a home for Pan Pacific Hotels Group, namely Parkroyal Serviced Suites, Parkroyal Hotel, and Pan Pacific Hotel. In addition, the Thamrin Nine Complex will have a new Lifestyle Mall, which will be opened in March 2024 (to be confirmed) to accompany the existing Grand Indonesia and Plaza Indonesia in this prestigious area of Jakarta.
Parkroyal Serviced Suites is on the higher levels, from level 73 to level 82. Meanwhile, the Parkroyal Hotel will occupy the lower levels of the Luminary Tower. It is planning to open in Q4 2024 (to be confirmed).
The Lobby
The lobby is a sleek and modern style. It is not too big but spacious. I might say it is the functional lobby. There is a Coffee Bar situated in the Lobby Lounge from Tanamera brand for the needs of coffee lovers.
The rooms
There are 180 rooms for the Parkroyal Serviced Suites Jakarta, from Studio Suites, One Bedroom Deluxe Suites, One Bedroom Premiere Suites, One Bedroom Executive Suites to Two Bedroom Deluxe Suites.
I stayed in the One-bedroom Premier Suite (65 sqm) with separate bath and shower facilities, spacious living and dining areas, and a fully equipped kitchenette. My appointed room is immaculate with a Thamrin street view, which I think is the best view when you stay at this Serviced Suites. Anyway, if the sky is clear, you will be lucky enough to see Mount Gede Pangrango in your morning view. If you are on the sunrise team, it is better to take a room with a river view.
The Residents Lounge
To enjoy the breakfast spread, all-day snacks, coffee, tea, and soft drinks are situated at the Residents Lounge on the Mezzanine level. It is a comfortable area with indoor and outdoor options.
The services
Although the other facilities are not ready to be opened during my stay, for example, the fitness center and swimming pool. The warm hospitality and attentive staff are paying off. They know how to treat the guests nicely, so no complaints from me.
Special credit goes to Ibu Herdi, Mbak Tata, Mbak Marzella, Mas Iqbal, Mbak Gloria, Mas Andri, and others. The services and hospitalities they shared with me were impeccable and beyond my expectations.
All in all, I had an exceptional stay. Once again, congratulations on the opening of the Parkroyal Serviced Suites Jakarta. Thank you for the warm hospitality. I will recommend my colleagues, friends, and family to stay here, indeed.
PS: If you are a GHA Discovery Member, it is time to upgrade the membership level. Parkroyal Serviced Suites is the right choice for having an extended stay with fully-equipped suites at a very...
Read moreStayed at the One Bedroom Executive Suite for a night at this newly opened property for USD 151.25 nett (inclusive of breakfast) for 1 Adult, 1 Child.
Warm service upon checking-in but no acknowledgement of GHA status. Was assisted by Laura who is nice and informative of all the property’s features.
Can confirm that rooms are as pictured on the website and they come complete with Electrolux appliances and amenities such as cooking utensils and cutlery, which is more than I expected. Two jugs of water provided in the fridge.
However, as their main selling point is the view from the tallest hotel in Jakarta, the dirty windows are hard to turn a blind eye to. It is less noticeable at night but during the day it is not pleasant to look at. Our room faced the southwest - southeast view so we had a prime view of Sudirman Station, the Casa Grande apartment, Thamrin City and the surrounding area. For a view of Bundaran HI, we went to the poolside in level 71.
Like others, the fact that this property only has 3 lifts spanning 80+ floors (only about 10 floors have rooms) makes for a bit of a wait for elevators. Luckily occupancy was not too high during my visit so we never had to wait that long (2 minutes max. wait).
While the gym was very clean (and even had a coffee machine in it!), the pool was disappointing. The water temperature was colder than I imagined and the water was salty and upon further inspection, dirty (there were particles floating and lying on the pool floor). No attendants were there when I visited at 21:40 (pool is open till 22:00).
Fortunately, the breakfast served at the residents’ lounge at the Mezzanine level is actually decent. It was packed when we visited around 09:15, with a weird feature being the billiard table smack in the middle of dining tables. Not a lot of food options, but their a la carte menu is solid. Tried their teriyaki don, avocado toast and french toast. All dishes were delivered within 8-12 minutes from ordering and the portion size was perfect for 1 person with some left for nibbling. Service at breakfast was also good, albeit they don’t have a front of staff to allocate tables (you have to walk in and look for a table yourself until they approach to ask your room number).
Given the rate I paid for the large room (70 sqm), I think it’s a good deal for luxury accommodation in the heart of Jakarta. After all, you are a stone’s throw away from Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia and the Bundaran HI MRT station. Improvements to the pool and room windows would certainly give the property more value and live up to the Parkroyal and...
