It’s a relatively new cafe at Grand Indonesia Mall, there are quite a lot of reviews on the internet and here’s my take. Went there with a group of friends and didn’t make any reservations beforehand. Luckily, there was no queue at all and we go straight in. From here, one thing that could definitely be improved is the friendliness of the host at the front. She didn’t smile at all and seemed like she wasn’t in the mood to do her job that day, lol. It made us feel like we weren't being welcomed 😬. Thankfully, the other staff were nice and friendly. The interior was cozy, which is a plus. We sat at the low table with sofas, and it felt like chatting and dining at one of our friend’s houses.
This café serves Japanese fusion dishes and is very famous for their Matcha Basque Cheesecake, so we definitely didn’t miss ordering it. They also serve patisserie from FLOR.
Here are our orders: Kinoko Butter Pasta [105K]. Man, THIS IS THE BOMB 💣💥. Had zero expectations, just wondering how should a Kinoko Butter Pasta would taste like. I found the recipe online and tried to cook it at home. I fell in love with this dish since then. I mean, omg, this is so good, so tasty, so umami. I am proudly saying that my cooking’s not too far from this, lol. Salmon Mentaiko Pasta [120K]. Hmm too creamy from the mayo. Okonomiyaki Pizza [135K], tastes 100% just like okonomiyaki but with thin pizza base and runny egg yolk in the middle. Ikura Scramble Egg Shokupan [95K]. It is fluffly, tasty, and not eggy-smelling. You eat it by dipping the shokupan into the egg and the shokupan was fluffy too! Matcha Basque Cheesecake [75K]. If you love matcha, you need to try it. It has the perfect balance between the cheese, sweet, and the bitterness from the matcha. Ours was quite solid, but my friend prefers it a bit runny in the middle. Well, I don’t think I need to explain more about this, other food bloggers have already described it very well. You just have to go there and order this! 🥰💚🥰💚 4H Braised Buta Don [160K]. The sauce was delicious, the pork was juicy and tender. While some people mentioned that their orders took quite a while to arrive, ours came relatively quick.
Overall, it was good, and I would love to go back for the Kinoko Butter Pasta and Basque...
Read moreI think I’ve found one of my favourite cafes in Jakarta.. 🥹 You have to visit this place if you’re looking for a relaxing ambience in a stylish setting!
A Japanese cozy cafe with a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, Cafe Kissa serves fusion Japanese mains and desserts that are just as good as they look. They have everything from desserts, ricebowls, thin crusted Japanese pizzas, small snack plates and sandos!
What I’ve tried:
• Matchagato A matcha affogato, with ice cream drowned with a shot of matcha. The ice cream balances out the bitterness of matcha and the milkiness makes it similar to a matcha latte, especially as the ice cream gradually melts. If you like matcha you have to try!
• Matcha Tiramisu A really popular item on their menu and definitely worth trying! There was a good balance of matcha and coffee flavours and the cream was not too heavy, with a substantial amount of lady fingers!
• Tofu Steak A very well marinated fried Japanese tofu, mushroom and pork duxelle glazed with homemade goma sauce, and housemade rayu. A really flavourful dish whose saltiness would be well complemented with a bowl of rice.
• Gyoza Plump Japanese dumplings filled with chicken and prawns, served with thick ponzu wasabi dressing and topped with crispy mushroom. Gyoza was pan-fried but not to the point where it crisps.
• Tokoroten A refreshing healthy dessert perfect for summer, with Japanese noodle jelly, sliced fruits, yuzu sorbet, mochi dango, and granola. The Tokoroten jelly was freshly cut into noodle form and all the ingredients are mixed together before serving. The fruits are really fresh and the mochi dango balls have a nice chew. It’s not easy to find Tokoroten and this was a great experience. You can get this to share!
I’ll definitely be back, eyeing the Ube French Toast and...
Read moreNot sure how they got a full 5 star review lol but let me share an HONEST review. As part of the ismaya group, i expected them to do better. Their menu are charged at premium price (i spent 1 million++ for 3 courses), so for a “cafe” that charges 200-300rupiah per menu, i expected a good taste and dining experience.
All the three dishes were way too salty. Portion was very little🥲🥲🥲 Dont get fooled by their appearance lol.Their OCEAN menu (first pic, claimed to be best seller) is basically fried rice with small chunks of sashimi on top, guess what the rice is spread out but it was only like 0.3cm in height. I mean hello for 300k dish the least you can do is give a decent amount of rice. and the waiter say it’s suitable for sharing :) I also ordered their COD FISH OCHASUKR. The ochasuke tasted like concentrated dashi stock. The last menu was XO YAKISOBA UNAGI. Im not sure which part of the unagi they were serving but it was very fatty, and not in a good way, the eel’s fat was very fishy.
You could argue that taste is subjective, and i agree with that. But if you want to brand your resto as a premium cafe, at least provide good service. They had quite a number of waiters, but they were just talking around. The waiters were just like 2 meters away from us, talking to each other, I kindly raised my hand to ask for a bowl. They didnt see me so i called them once, they didnt hear. My friend had to raised her voice a little to call them until they finally come to us.
oh and btw, they charged ocha at 35k, no refill, using the small hot ocha glass which i could easily finish in one sip🤣 I love ismaya group, but disappointed in this one....
