Stayed here for 10 days. ||The staff here are genuinely brilliant. They’re really polite, friendly and welcoming; not only when we arrived but throughout our entire stay. ||We were on the ground floor which was fine as the room was lovey but the only thing that would have been preferable was an actual balcony so we could hang more things out to dry rather than have them on view to everyone walking past but it wasn’t really a major issue. ||Rooms are really big, decorated very modern with an extremely comfortable double bed, desk, TV and kettle. Booking did say that we’d have a safe though but we didn’t. ||We’ve had this in a few hotels we’ve stayed in whilst in Bali but we didn’t have any hand soap provided but we bought our own from the shop so wasn’t a problem. ||One thing we did find very odd though was that in the bathroom there was a wall made of glass right next to the shower that seemed to back onto another room. It’s been covered up from both sides but it’s not soundproof at all so when the people in that other room are in there and you’re in the bedroom is sounds like there’s a group of people stood chatting in the bathroom. There is also a huge glass partition in the bathroom/bedroom wall so if you use the bathroom in the night and turn the light on, it lights up the whole bedroom so definitely bring an eye mask if there’s 2 of you. ||Location is perfect. Leads right out on to quite a bustling street with some gorgeous cafes, bars, restaurants and shops on. On the roads adjacent there are also a huge variety of places to eat/have a drink as well. ||As others have mentioned, the road leading down to the hotel entrance is really bad. It’s not lit at night and it’s really uneven and gravelled so is definitely a hazard however it’s an entrance to a few properties so not the hotels fault. ||Really quiet location as it’s set far enough back from the Main Street. Might occasionally hear a dog bark but that’s about it. ||Breakfast is a bit hit and miss. I ordered French toast and received two slices of normal thickness bread, slightly pan fried and drowned in honey. I love honey but this was too much. It was soaked. My OH had eggs and pancakes though and said they were delicious. ||It’s about a 10 min leisurely walk to the main hustle and bustle of Ubud centre.||Overall, we’ve been so happy with our stay here and would come back without hesitation. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re...
Read moreJust checked out today. Positives are it’s in the heart of Ubud. Close to The Monkey Forest, the market, restaurants, shops and art centres. However it is down a long (if you have a suitcase) narrow unevenly paved alleyway. Our car driver couldn’t drive down it. The staff came up to the main road and helped when we arrived for our 4 day stay. I think this was due to our driver as they refused to help us get up there when we were leaving and I could hear them having a good laugh at my expense after I asked. Had planned on leaving a good tip, irrespective of our stay, but a good laugh is priceless I guess.
The hotel feels like they almost finished it and decided to open anyway, definitely a work in progress. Concrete unpainted walls, mould on shower walls, shower drain blocked so water floods into toilet area. Slightly less when they attempted to fix. Bathroom sink drain also blocked. Massive cobwebs under it. Other than that the room was cleaned daily. Shower head needed descaling. In our standard double, there was an odd feature glass wall between bathroom and bedroom which floods the room with light first thing. Luckily I had an eye mask. The room balcony was over the reception area, sitting out on it wasn’t relaxing. Not because of guests but because that’s where the staff congregate, loudly. Bed was comfortable, pillows were large and hard but that’s a personal preference thing.
Small pool, only 4 sunbeds, we were able to use once as it was busy. To end on a plus note, I did enjoy the one breakfast I had, chef was good and a...
Read moreMe and my partner stayed here for 5 nights whilst we were travelling around Bali for 3 weeks. On arrival, we were warmly greeted and checked in by the staff on site. The men are helpful and always on hand if you have any questions, want to book any excursions or need any help. We were given a deluxe room on the ground floor which was clean and spacious. The bed was made daily and we were also given fresh towels and water replenished in the fridge. During our stay, we also used their laundry service which was speedy and competitively priced. All our items were returned cleaned and folded well. Breakfast was superb every morning and the bar is priced well, meaning my partner didn’t have to walk to the shop to buy Bintang. We booked several excursions through the accommodation. The hotel is in a perfect location to explore Ubud, on a road with many bars and restaurants. We found that this was all we really needed for the rest of the trip after exploring the heart of ubud on our first night. We’ve had the best stay at Kubu Tropis and couldn’t fault...
