Tanah Semujan Ubud — Hotel in Pulau Bali

We read some great reviews and decided to book this hotel online for 2 nights but were utterly disappointed and had a terrible night there. We arived around 8pm and there was no one for the check in. After about 45 mins waiting, another guest gave us the owner's cell number who gave us guidance via whatsapp to do a self check-in. The room was in the middle in the ground floor and looked nice but had a very strong humidity smell... We have had smelly rooms in Indonesia but this was something much stronger and in the entire room, not just the bathroom. After asking if there was another room available, we were told there wasn't and immediately got told we could cancel the reservation and change hotels. What would have really made a difference for us is someone helping us with the smell in the room but there was nobody to help. By now it was around 11pm and with nowhere else to go we decided to sleep with the door and windows open which almost made it bearable. The next morning we woke up around 7am to the sounds of the construction site in front of the hotel but despite the noise it was better to keep everything open due to the smell. Around 9am the owner came by and apologized arguing this particular room had no sunlight and got very humid when it rained... What I told him is, if he knew the room could smell so bad, he shouldn't let it be rented. We were refunded with no hassle for the second night and left for...

This is where to go if you are planning to see Ubud for the first time! Located on Bisma street, it's only a 10 minutes walk to Monkey forest (sanctuary) and a plethora of Warungs and restaurants. My mother and I enjoyed our stay so much that we now use our fabulous experience at Tanah Semujan as a reference to rate the rest of the hotels we are staying in during our vacation together.

Everything was close to perfection: the location, the room, the amazing breakfast and of course the ownver Wayan who can also drive you to different spots in Ubud. He's also trustworthy and can arrange Gili trips for his guests with safe companies.

Our room was large and right next to the pool which was surrounded by beautiful statues, plants and flowers.There is also a water dispenser and a fridge that we could use. The best part was that Wayan the owner gave us permission to take swims in the pool late in the evening. We did that every night during our 4 nights stay in this wonderful little oasis of paradise in the middle of buzzing Ubud city centre. The breakfast was delicious and could be pre-ordered before doing excursions and such. There was hot water in the shower , which also had a tub. It was luxurious yet humbling and peaceful. And again big kudos to Wayan and his wife who kept the place clean and neat.

I stayed in four places in UBUD and I’m so glad that this was my last place, it made my trip!!!! Wayan and Nyoman and their family are beautiful and amazing hosts…. I was genuinely sad to leave!!!||The room was beautiful with the most gorgeous outlook to a beautiful garden and the pool with a large balcony with chairs and a table that u can sit at. The air conditioning was great and the shower pressure was awesome!!!!! The room was spotless and cleaned every day and the hosts even put fresh flowers in the room which was so sweet. The breakfast is better than what I had at some cafes!!!! So delicious especially the pineapple pancake and scrambled eggs and avocado toast!!!! You also get a huge plate of fruit and fresh juice that you can choose from…. The breakfast is very generous. You get two bottles of fresh water every day and free refills. The bed is so comfortable and I had amazing sleeps!!!! And the linen is very clean.||I loved chatting them daily and learning more about their beautiful culture. ||The pool area is beautiful.||The location of the property is great it’s close to the centre of ubud and in a really quiet area with lots of great cafes, restaurants, shops and places that you can arrange activities. ||I cannot wait to go back there and could not recommend it...
