It's difficult to know where to begin with this one. In a nutshell though - the worst hotel experience I have had, in my life, so far.||||We got to Bolzano after a long drive and were ready to relax, and after having driven to the address just found an office block with nowhere to park to try and find the place. As it was a narrow one way street, with traffic behind us we had to go round the block before abandoning the car in a no parking area, while my wife went off to try and locate where the actual hotel was. It turns out it was the office block. Written in very small writing on the door bells was "Mary's Rooms". This is very strange, as when I booked it it was called "Toby's rooms". Who is this mysterious Mary and is she related to Toby? Perhaps she is Toby? Perhaps we shall never know...... It turns out Marys Rooms and Tobys rooms are one and the same. ||||We look inside and it looks like an abandoned building, no one inside, just an empty desk and chair in a hall way. We get the phone number from the paperwork and ring it, and eventually get someone (maybe Mary and or Toby) to give is the code to the combination lock to let us in the building. And another different code for the room. ||||When we ask about parking we are told there is a public car park not far away, which we need to pay for of course, but on sundays (the next day) we can park out the front for free, assuming of course there is a space, which there isn't. Are you kidding me??? ||||At this point one of the locals who we had blocked in while parking up to try and get into the place, needs to get out, so we rush back to the car. While there this person mentions that there is a carpark for Marys/Tobys rooms underneath the building itself, and even gives us yet another code to get into that. We go down there, and yes there is a car park area, with nothing written on it to say we can use it, no mention of the mysterious Mary or Toby, and with more pillars to hold the building up than spaces for cars. It was like trying to park inside a forest of trees. Sharp edged concrete trees. I delicately guided my wife to park the car, with the dexterity of an airplane marshall bringing an A380 on to stand. 2cm gap on either side of the car at one point, with the parking sensors screaming at 180dB. Oh yes, and it's 10 euro more to park down here thanks.||||The room itself was basically a shell, in an office block. Putting stud walls up in an office block does not make it into a hotel, any more than painting wings on the side of my car makes it a plane. The room was Spartan to say the least, and the bathroom didn't even have a shower curtain, or hook for the shower hose. So one hand on the hose, and the other hand to wash yourself. ||||Advertised as a nice quiet location. About 20 yards from a restaurant with an open are eating area, and a party going on until 11PM. Nice, thanks guys. No air conditioning, so windows open and we were in the party atmosphere.||||This is where it gets even more weird. I turn my phone on when we get in the room, to find a Whats App message, with the building code and room code (the room code was wrong by the way and did not match the one that actually let us in the room). This was like trying to solve a puzzle on The Crystal Maze. I hadn't realised I would need to find clues and solve puzzles as part of my stay. In all the time there, there was no staff visible or to be found. No mention of these mysterious codes and messages when booking the room of course, and if you do not have a working phone then look forward to a night on the streets or in your car.||||I have honestly never known anything like it, an absolute joke of a place. Steer clear on Mary's or Toby's rooms if at all possible and find something else. Anything else. Even...
Read moreCheck-in was an overall bad experience: in booking.com the check-in time was indicated to be 14:00. Waiting there for further indication (access code) we called the indicated number in booking.com and on the door several times, without any answer (not even mailbox!). Then, we suddenly saw the booking.com-message that check-in was at 15:00 at another address in the city (hardly reachable by car, but no info on this). So we went to the city and waited, when then we received an SMS (no hello or dear guest) with the entrance code. We asked back if check-in was now needed or not, which then was confirmed as no need (we thought that they would need at least our names for registration purposes and contact tracing during Covid!). The back and forth and not being able to contact anyone was very annoying. |But oh la la.... coming to the room was another experience: there seemed to be a problem with the water drain or pipe system... the smell was nauseous. It was not clean: There were black hair pinned to the hair dryer and the pillow cases had several holes and stains. Also the rest of the linen had stains suggesting that it has probably not been washed at the appropriate temperature / products. The cheap toilet paper being a minor matter, unfortunately lese half a role was left in the room which could lead to uncomfortable situations. The chair and the cupboard had greasy stains. Never very comfortable and welcoming, less in Covid-times. In order to feel a little more comfortable we bought cleaning spray and air spray. ||For a private matter, we needed to contact the accommodation again. We did so via email, phone calls, SMS and booking.com but an answer was not given within a useful timeframe.||From what we can tell, there is no passion put in these appartments and their maintanance, nor attention to detail (which btw can be done with very low investments and/or costs). |Very disappointing was then the fact, that papers were hung on the door telling that they are an enthusastic young team and that they would give discounts when giving a good review. So here it goes: dear team, please don‘t ask for good reviews; provide a clean room, put some passion into it, attention to detail and to service and the good...
Read moreI don't even know where to begin with this place. I booked my stay through booking.com who need to wake and and cut ties with the place before it destroys their reputation. Upon entering the building via a key in a lock box attached to the front door (which I found open more than once), I was greeted by a smell which I'm certain comes from the floors not being washed in the hallways. In my room there was exposed electrical cables sticking out of the floor, hairs all over the bed, stains on the towels left for us, an uncleaned toilet bowl, used shampoo sachets left in the shower, hair from the previous guest who had been shaving left in the sink, taps that clearly hadn't been wiped as there was hair and finger prints all over them and grubby bedside tables. Also, the first and only the first shower I had in the place had hot water and there wasn't a drop thereafter. ||The owners or those who run this place must be entirely oblivious to the pandemic that has been going on in the last couple of months because the place was filthy. I expressed my concerns about the cleanliness of the place before I arrived even stating Covid and the fact that I have asthma to them which they ignored entirely. I chose to follow through on my trip as it was non refundable and I was hopeful that the fact that I had been in contact with them might encourage them to scrub the place up a bit but I might as well have been talking to the wall because they blatantly ignored what I had to say. Someone needs to come and shut this place down asap.||Another thing I might add is that they offer discounts on your stay if you rate the place 5 stars, so be extremely wary of any decent reviews because theres no way anyone has had a five star experience here.||Just about the only thing they have going for them is the cheap prices they offer and the great location but if anyone was to consider staying here I recommend you spend the extra cash and stay as far away from here...
